Im not exactly psyched on capitalism. Its the best the world has got right now. We can't compare our country to some utopia we made up in our heads. By most of the world standards we are doing just fine. Heres hoping something better comes along  

I agree. That's why I say capitalism as is rather than capitalism. 

By first world standards, we're actually pretty far behind. Poverty is rampant along with homelessness, people are still starving to death, drug addiction is on a huge rise, police brutality is a huge problem, not everybody has access to proper medical treatment, not everybody has clean water, education is a mess and people are being over worked and underpaid. The biggest problem with any form of government is that it works perfectly fine until human selfishness corrupts it. Capitalism always comes under scrutiny because it can't exist with out class. I'm fine with that though, just as long as the hard working lower class had much more comfort and luxury rather than fighting to stay afloat. We shouldn't be literally breaking our backs for the bare minimum. Though, if we were actually paid fairly we'd have a higher chance at pursuing or dreams thus building more competition for those at the top and they don't want that.

I'd say an important part of changing anything that's wrong with our current system is voting with your dollar. Maybe more important than government votes. Don't shop at unscrupulous corporate giants that corrupt our system and start investing into stocks for ethical companies. The hardest part is keeping yourself educated on who's doing what.
