The government is currently voting to make the owner's of assault weapons legally obligated to register any and all assault weapons. Each household that has an assault weapon will then be marked on an internet map, like they do with sex offenders.

Reasons this is ridiculous?

-If a person doesn't want to register the weapon, that puts honest people at a disadvantage.

-The right to bear arms is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, unlike molesting the genitals of small children.

- A person could be concieved as dangerous with no other evidence if spotted on that map.

- In Kentucky, it's common to hunt. Our family killed their own turkey on Thanksgiving for a decade. Why must we be marked publicly as a family that celebrates Thanksgiving?

-Burglars could see this map as well as honest people. The map could be used as a factor when a burglar cases a neighborhood.

-The government could be spending their time doing useful things, instead of voting on this. i.e., deficit, welfare, military spending, OUR country's starving children.

We have a thread about this somewhere on here...I didn't know that we were gonna be put on blast on an internet map like you said.

All of your points are very valid imo, and i'd think the majority of people on here might agree with you.

Kentucky is basically the gun capital of america. IDK if you know of knob creek but people come from all around america to participate in the annual machine gun shoot there, because our gun laws are so relaxed.

What really fucks with me is the people against these assault rifles know nothing of guns. Hunting rifles are no different than military style rifles except for the aesthetics. They just look different but operate the exact same!

We will just have to see how it all pans out. If all they do is make us register, and not try to  take away our guns, then I will be satisfied enough

Yeah, assault weapons are most commonly defined as semi automatic firearms possessing certain features similar to those of military firearms. With this in mind... yeah. Hunting weapons can be the same. Essentially, the military is armed like they are in order to hunt. Only in their case, they're not hunting deer. I'll admit I have a limited knowledge of assault weapons, and honestly a lot of weapons in general. That's my boyfriend's area of expertise, not mine.

Picutre this though: a single, malnutritioned mother with an almost insignificant amount of strength. Their 6 month old is in the next room. Someone breaks into the house. What's she gonna do? Hit the dude with a marshmallow? Fuck that man.

The government has a personal vendetta against Kentucky I swear. Did you know that they actually limited the amount of tobacco Kentucky and any other state can export? It only really significantly injures this state though. Tobacco is our number one export, covering about 90% of what we export. As a result of this law, tobacco companies are limited to the amount of real tobacco that goes into each ciggarette. If ciggarettes started tasting somewhat different to you about 7-8 months ago, it's because each ciggarette has almost twice the amount of harmful chemicals that they once contained and about half the amount of actual tobacco. Oh yeah, and now they're trying to pass another tax on ciggarettes because of the increased harm of the contents of the ciggarettes.

I agree 100%  I will say to be fair there is one discernible difference between hunting and assault rifles in general. The size of the bullets. The 5.56mm bullet was designed by the military to kill a certain percentage and maim a certain percentage. That way they(the enemy) have to waste resources and time trying to evac their wounded soldiers.

That being said Im totally and advocate of the second amendment not because I hunt, or want to kill shit, but for the helpless people like the mom you just mentioned with no means to defend themselves.

It was like I was tellin' another guy on here, if there was somewhere better than america then I would leave all this shit behind

I would leave too honestly. Nathan and I may have to. He's already told me that he'll die before he gives up his firearms.

The bullet size is a minor difference but that's still a very interesting factoid.

That's right. If the government takes away our guns, who's the only party left with the guns? The government.

They take your weapons, they can kill and abduct you easier.

The truth is, I feel bad when little kids get killed, but I know the army kills more kids. Guns really don't kill people cause anyone can probably kill more people mysteriously through poison and such, if they set their minds too it. They will never ban poison!

Killing someone without a trace it probably honestly easier than it sounds. Anarchists cookbook for the win.

But back to assault laws, yeah they probably will eventually take the guns. Amendments to eh constitution happen everyday. That, or straight up disregarding them. The fourth, sixth, and eigth amendments are commonly disregarded in real life. Who's to say that the next thing to disregard the bill of rights would be a further amendment to the constituion.

guns can be made with a few tools, they can be stolen from police stations (and are all the time), hidden or smuggled into the country….fuck they cant even stop massive amounts of drugs coming into the country or being produced right here. how are they going to ever take away all the weapons.

heres the thing though a lot of people are worried about door to door checks and shit, our military will not take your weapons from you however, they will need to use UN "peace keeping" troops to do so…and we have a right to defend against all threats domestic and foreign…i say shoot those mother fuckers in the head when/if they come.

the difference between a hunting rifle and an "assault" weapon isn't much, mostly an assault rifle is a close-mid range weapon capable of being used in tight areas as well as open ground. hunting rifle are more for longer range single kill shots and their semi auto is either slightly slower or not as reliable during a long battle…t

here are some assault weapons that are a lil different however..the M14 looks similar to a hunting rifle in a lot of ways, it can be semi or full auto.. military assault rifle are also 762x54 or 5.56 in many cases while many hunting rifles are 762x39 or smaller and an assault rifle in general is also more reliable for sending as many rounds down range as possible without failure of some sort.

get yourself an M14 (M1A is the "civilian" model) ..easily can be made full auto if you can not for whatever reason own a fully auto and disguised as just another hunting rifle.

oh my i forgot to mention assault weapons are in many easier to maintain/field strip than a lot of hunting rifles are. trying to repair a 308 in the middle of a battle would be a pain compared to an AK.

When the whole country spontaniously starts debating an issue like crazy, ask yourself what it is that they dont want people to be thinking about.

The assault weapon thing is crucial no doubt. But what about the real problem...the government wants to illegalize ALL private sales of weapons. That means, every single weapon sale is tracked in the system. Isn't THAT fucked up?
