I was cleaning out my attic and found some of my old school gaming stuff.

Game gear…with the original box and instruction manual, Car charger and wrist strap.

It was the Sonic 2 bundle, so I got that game.

I must have packed it away with the batteries in it so, They were all corroded, and it does not

work now.

I have six other games for it.

I also found about 10 SNES game boxes and posters, all in fairly good condition.

and four SNES games.

I was just going to throw it all on craigslist, but I really do not know how much to ask for it as a lot.

If anyone is familiar with prices I would appreciate any help, They vary wildly on Ebay.

I have a love of old games, I’ve got a little collection in what should have been the guest room in my house, keyword little, but its something, and it can be a fun time waster.

The problem with asking, how much are they worth, is you didn’t say what they were, I’m not knowledgeable enough to just shoot of numbers even if you did (though some of my friends are), but things can literally range from cents to thousands of dollars depending on which game it is (as I’m sure you know).

As for sonic 2, I’m not very well versed in the game gear, but I’d think less than 10 dollars off of intuition, I could be wrong, but I’m guessing that because that game is in an odd spot, where that version isn’t in demand because the game gear isn’t in demand, but it isn’t rare either, because it was likely one of the most best selling game gear games, so among fans of it, they probably already have it, though that’s just a guess, I could be way off. If there was one going for like 20 dollars, I think it’d be just because its coming from a big store, selling on craigslist is usually far short of that, that’s why finding people selling on places like craiglist is usually the better option (besides the risk of betting a faulty copy).

Also I think if the battery corroded it miiiiiiiiiiiiiight still be fixable, not certain.

Wait, are you claiming that there’s something you dont know?

I got an idea, have a silent auction on some niche underground music groups forums page and see what you can get for it!

Just fucking with ya man, i can get you a phone number for a place that sells all kinds of new and vintage video game systems and you can do your own question asking…

Their a pretty legit place, large selection of new and used music, movies, vinyl, video game and systems.

Place is called the exchange

I’m sure the broken game gear is worth $5000 you should ask for that

If you really believed that all lives matter we wouldn't need to say black lives matter

As a retro game collector I would say…

You would be lucky to get $60 or so for the whole game gear collection as is.

SNES boxes can usually go for $10-15 depending on condition and game.

The actual SNES games would go for more if they’re ones you have the box for and sell complete to the right collector but other than that we would still need to know the titles of the games to give any kind of actual value. Most SNES games are common and lucky to sell for $5

I’m stupid curious what boxes and games you got, I’m broke as fuck right now (well not really, but I need to save for things because I’m about to me on my own in half a year) but i’m still curious. @Skratchie I don’t think its right to give blanket estimations like that, I’m not totally versed in boxes, but I have seen boxes that were considered nearly worthless and others (like my friends earthbound box) go for shit tons. And I imagine even ignoring things like earthbound that its similar for other games.

Well the broken GameGear is garbage.  Not worth fixing it.  Your best bet for getting your money for the original box and manual would be to buy another GameGear and then sell it as CIB.  Even then, you’ll still only get like30 maybe.  You can get a GameGear for 20 and you’ll get 50 or 60 as CIB.  The GameGear games are 3-5 each unless they’re something special.  Just not a console most people care about.

Now on the SNES games, I’d need to know the titles.  And do the boxes and manuals correspond to the games you have?  That matters a lot.  And are the posters Nintendo Power, or just random ones related to the franchises?

Sorry for the late response, life shit.

Gamegear games:

Sonic2-Streets of Rage 2-MK-MK2-

Ren & Stimpy-NBA Jam-Desert Strike

SNES games:

Clay Fighter-NBA JAM (w/box)-Street fighter 2 turbo-Fatal Fury

Game Box’s:

MK-MK3-Weapon (Lord w/Instructions)-TMNT Tournament Fighter-TMNT Turtles in Time-Rise of the Robots-Wrestle Mania-Yoshi Island-Ultra Man-NBA JAM

The posters where the ones they used to slip in with the SNES games all folded up.

One is batman returns and the other is Jurassic Park.

Among the SNES boxes, I have the folded up MK poster that came with the game.

Givin the updated list I would say your only “big ticket”  items are the TMNT boxes. Even then you might get $20 or so for both together. Sold to the right collector of course. The rest is all common games and paraphernalia that at most will get you $5 a piece if sold individually and people are interested.

Ok, so the GameGear games, Clay Fighter, SF2 Turbo, and Fatal Fury are about 3-5 each.

NBA Jam CIB is 10-15

MK3 and Weapon Lord are like a buck each with just the box

Tournament Fighter and Rise of the Robots are about 10 for the box, Turtles in time is about 30 for just the box, and Yoshi’s Island is about 15 for just the box.

The rest is pretty negligible.

I’d throw it up on Craigslist for $100 bucks as a lot and see if you get any bites and take offers as low as 80.  It’s nothing too special.

Thanks for the breakdown and the collective, real world, price.

So the Gem of this conglomerate is a ninja turtles box.

Fucking aye, Turtle power.

Thank all of y’all for the replies.

the boxes and books are worth more than the games themself , I mean almost every kid who got a game ripped the box open and that makes them very rare.

I collect NES games but they have to be 100% complete box, book, poster, nintendo power postcard, styrofoam insert everything has to be there I prefer it even if they are not even opened

What was your first “collectable” item? Did you purchase something first or have something from childhood that you wanted to add more to? Whats the most you paid for one piece and what was it?

good question

almost nothing

I paid $75 for the ICP play with me action figures way back when they first came out and there was no e-bay or amazon I got my local comic store guy to pick me up the set when he was in Vermont

I paid $30 for the Pulp Fiction Jimmy Funko Pop

this hobby started about 7 tears ago I would always bring my mother and sister and neice out to yard and garage sales on Saturday’s and I found it boring as fuck they would look for furniture or clothes or knick knacks but one day at a garage sale I found a bag of 3 1/4 inch GI Joes there was like 50 of them in the bag and all they wanted was $10 and I been hooked since.

now I have bins and bins and bins of loose action figures I mean I probably have close to 10,000 of them and 100’s of carded ones that I almost always buy on liquidation for under $5 a figure.

I want to get into collecting Hot Toys but at $400 a figure I think I will hold off for awhile
