Green Jellÿ’s “Cereal Killer Soundtrack” LP Turns Dirty 30 Today! ( Mini-Editorial)

The punk rock puppet parody masterpiece LP, “Cereal Killer Soundtrack”, brought forth by the hilarious Green Jellÿ, is officially celebrating its 30th anniversary today! This album was (still is) a groundbreaking work of satire music art. Even when it was originally released in audio format on Friday, March 5th, 1993 via Zoo Entertainment.  As the “Cereal Killer Soundtrack” album remains an influential comedy piece of music today. And that’s due to its sheer genius stupidity that shook the status quo of rock ‘n’ roll’s legacy on what it took to become successful.

But what really set Green Jellÿ apart from other bands during that time; was their willingness to nose dive straight into  provocative lyrical “career suicide” risks with their music content. And actually knowing out to rock the fuck out of their own performances as skillful musicians. From using 30+ puppets onstage to inserting raunchy comedy sketches into their songs, frontman Bill Manspeaker and his nearly 800 official band members, are still never afraid to be themselves. Even if it means possible jail time from confronting concert promoters who rip off bands at their own homes.

The “Cereal Killer Soundtrack”  accidentally proved to be revolutionary for its genre. From the record astonishingly gaining  die-hard cult-like popularity, thanks to its unique  blend of musical styles that somehow (quite well) managed to pull off combining punk, funk, metal, and even techno, within their oddball tunes. Their biggest hit “Three Little Pigs” straight up conquered MTV’s airwaves with its claymation fairy tale madness that greatly helped catapult Green Jellÿ  to be forever solidified among their own place in music history, as one of the pioneers of classic comedic hard rock music. Nuff said!

Vintage Green Jellÿ “Cereal Killer Soundtrack” Lineup

  • C.J. Buscaglia – guitar, vocals (1989–1995)
  • Maynard James Keenan – backing vocals, guitar (1990–1993)
  • Danny Carey – drums (1989–1994)

P.S. The progressive rock band TOOL would not be iconic today if weren’t Green Jellÿ’s puppet brilliance musically infecting the youth first. Facts!
