Heaven (Russian horrorcore artist)

Russian horrorcore is whooping the undergrounds ass right now! Enjoy this interview with recording artist Heaven from Saint Petersburg, Russia

Chad Thomas Carsten: What is Russia like?

Heaven: It isn’t a bad country. Has terrible roads, old fucking cars and few beautiful cities like St.-Petersburg. St. Petersburg is a very, very beautiful city, where I live. You will see many, many beautiful girls, beautiful houses, St.Petersburg has maaaany museums like hermitage and beautiful embankments. Bridges divorce at night and the lights are burning everywhere. And St.-Petersburg has true Horrorcore-place cabinet of curiosities, this place has many freaks and mutants that come out at night, it is cool!

Chad Thomas Carsten: Describe yourself as a person and when did you first venture into Hip-Hop, and what made you decide to pick up the mic?

Heaven: I have a demon inside me, he hates all people. I restrain him, but when I am in the studio he goes out. About me personally!? I am a satanist, I see only evil around me. I personally make my life. I love to eat very, very, very, much! especially KFC! Ahhahahahah! Hot chicken wings of course, are my favorite!
It was in 2008, I made hip-hop like a joke, it wasn’t a very serious project. I had different nicknames. I tried making Horrorcore by using free instrumentals by J-Nyce. I was recording at a friend’s house. I used the cheapest mic, what normal people would use for skyping, haha.

Chad Thomas Carsten: What made you become serious with Hip-Hop? And why the name Heaven?

Heaven: After a year passed, I started to work on my voice, it was a burn of Heaven. I started using a professional studio and noticed how my music started to sound good. This fact stimulated me to make music better and push harder.

I started making Horrorocre after seeing the video for Twiztid’s – We Don’t Die. I started to get acquainted with the genre deeper and the lyrics of Preacher X, Scum, KidCrusher, SickTanick, had a huge influence on me, especially the lyrics of Preacher X, he is a genius! For the name Heaven, people start thinking about some good light music, but my music isn’t light. I am the demon, a dark demon and all demons were angels earlier, but i stayed in the Heaven.

Chad Thomas Carsten: Interesting, Twiztid is my favorite on Psychopathic Records, I actually started listening to them first before Insane Clown Posse, when I was 15! The ” Green Book”, the track “Marsh Lagoon”. And I agree on Preacher X, will there ever be a collab track between you two? And what are your favorite tracks by Twiztid and Preacher X?

Heaven: Hehehehe that is secret. All official albums by them are very, very cool!

Chad Thomas Carsten: Describe the concept behind your album Chapter Six (Revelation)

Heaven: I took it as a basic chapter of the revelation of John the Theologian. This chapter is about the Apocalypse and the Four Horseman’s of Apocalypse: Antichrist, War, Hunger and Death. Whole album is about it. Each subsequent track is a continuation of the previous. One album is One story. One cool thing about this album, I said all the words of the chapter for the album. I gave all two of my solo albums for free downloads, for the fans.

Chad Thomas Carsten: Now on that album you have Mars of Mad Insanity Records, Con-Crete previously of SKR and even Sodoma Gomora & Ian Stone of Dark Half on the same track. How did you go about choosing them? And what was the main concept for your track with Mars and Con-Crete “Tears In The Womb”?
Heaven: I make feature tracks with people if I like their music and I have chosen many of my lovely Horrocore performers to show my respect. Tears In The Womb deals with a pregnant woman, when the 2nd Horseman of the Apocalypse War arrived and starts to kill all people. She’s afraid and the child inside her is afraid too!

Chad Thomas Carsten: That’s what’s up! Now, Psycho Madness was the main producer for your albums, is he a close friend? What’s the story behind finding him as a producer? And what are your plans for the next album release and who will be producing? Any main themes and features?

Heaven: Psycho is a very good friend. I needed a beatmaker. I searched and found, all is easy, but he doesn’t make Horror core-instrumentals anymore. But now I have Desecrated of Sweden for my official producer, he is so fucking beast! Very talented !!!! The main theme?! The story of my life that deals with the story of my demon and myself , it will be interesting work . I will keep the rest a secret for now, until the time is right.

Chad Thomas Carsten: I saw your video on YouTube covering “Whispers in the Dark” by Skillet. You did a kick ass job. What other songs will you be covering and will there ever be a full Rock side project for you beyond horrorcore?

Heaven: I don’t know about that for real, it was an experiment. I had one day to think about it, one evening and I was in the studio in the next day. Ii will think about other covers, it isn’t easy for me cause i don’t like Russian music, and if I will make another cover, it will be me covering for some American group and it won’t be horrorcore.

Chad Thomas Carsten: Do you enjoy Horror movies? And what are Your Favorite albums of Horrorcore and the future of Heaven?

Heaven: 25:17, Av Hatte Commen – Preacher X , , Black Widow , Crimson Kingdom – Smallz One, Cyco The Snuff Reels – Insane Poetry, Chapterz , Graveyard Blues – Dark Half. I like Horror-movies, they aren’t scary, but they amuse me. Heaven is the future of the genre!
