Molly Gruesome - "Kill Bill" Molly Gruesome - "Nothin' But Bad"

What is up juggalos. Ninjas. Homies alike. Once again, I bring you another segment of the Underground Spotlight. It’s that crazed underground lunatic junkie himself, you’re boy BeZerk, and I have some more flavor and freshness coming straight from America’s hat. I’m still recovering from a wisdom teeth extraction, but I always got time for the UGS. This time I got another extra fresh flavor with a wicked femcee.

Coming out of Ontario, Canada, Molly Gruesome has been rocking it out all the way from Canada to the Gathering. Working with Optimus, Voodoo Man of none other than the So Sick Social Club, and even filming a video with Emmy nominee T.O.N.e-Z, Molly is tearing up the wicked shit that the juggalos know and love.

Well juggalos the only other thing I can really say outside of check this shit out, like NOW!; is Cannabutter. Well juggalos, until next time, here’s that underground freak ninjette herself, Molly Gruesome.

Interview for: Molly Gruesome
From: Ontario, Canada

FLH: Why did you choose the name Molly Gruesome?

Molly Gruesome: It comes from Molly Grue, a character in an old cartoon I loved as a kid called “The Last Unicorn”, but when I chose it as my name I changed it to Molly Gruesome, because my lyrics are pretty dirty and messed up.

FLH: Who would you consider as an inspiration?

Molly Gruesome: My biggest inspiration is Tairrie B, she was a rapper who Eazy-E produced back in 1989. I first heard her rap when I was 15, and it changed my life. I’d never heard a woman swear, and bitch like she did haha. She was a big advocate for being a strong person and being yourself, and her powerful lyrics gave me a lot of confidence, which at age 15, I needed. She still makes music to this day and is still an inspiration.

FLH: What is your favorite Faygo flavor?

Molly Gruesome: Rock N Rye… with rye haha.

FLH: What do you think makes you different from other femcees?

Molly Gruesome: I’m a single mom who raps about serial killers, sex, and video games. That sets me apart from most femcees right there, but mostly I’m just different myself. I’ve always been into zombies, comedy, and sci-fi and that comes out in a lot of my tracks. I hear female artists trying to rap all gangsta, and it doesn’t work unless you’re Gangsta Boo k? Nobody is as hard as Gangsta Boo. Stop trying to be her haha. Be yourself. They try to sound like this artist or that artist, what I’m trying to create is something nobody has heard before that is 100% my own.

FLH: How long have you been doing music for?

Molly Gruesome: Since 2007. I started a comedy band when I was in college called The Notorious V.A.G., we would sing about Dave Chappelle and STDs and stuff, I only started rapping and performing as Molly Gruesome two years ago.

FLH: Who have you been able to collab with?

Molly Gruesome: My latest collab was with T.O.N.E-z, I took the train out to NYC to shoot a video for a track called “Scooby Snacks” and that was awesome. I’m relatively unknown so to have an established artist want to work with me was really cool. I have a track with Optimus coming out, a track produced by Voodoo Man of So Sick Social Club, and I’m working with a few other female artists in the underground and local artists.

FLH: You’ve been able to open at The Gathering, for J- Reno and the So Sick Social Club, as well as Boondox and Blaze. What other shows have you done?

Molly Gruesome: Recently I got to do a show with Choclair. It was awesome performing with him because he’s a local who made it big here in Canada, he was all over Much Music (the Canadian MTV). I also got to perform with Scratch from The Roots, he’s an amazing beatboxer.

FLH: What was your favorite thing you did at the Gathering other than performing?

Molly Gruesome: Kicking it with my homies man. That’s what I go for every year, I love just walking around talking to people and hanging out with juggalos from all over the place.

FLH: What do you have coming up? Any CDs, mixtapes, music videos, merch, etc in the works?

Molly Gruesome: I’m looking to drop my debut album in early 2012, and I’ve already started recording for that. You can see the Scooby Snacks video on Youtube, and I’ll be dropping an Underground Femcees mixtape soon with tracks from female underground artists.
