Now, like I said, I got a lot of love for the Chi-Town and the surrounding area’s underground scene, and my boy over at MatcheteRadio turned me on to my next interview. PoorBoy is a straight scrub ninja like myself out of Marseilles, IL. He’s starting to bust on the scene, and I think ninjas need to keep an eye on him. So, without further ado. Here’s PoorBoy!!!

Faygoluvers: How did you come up with your stage name?

PoorBoy: It was given to me by bullies in high school. I was always the poor kid, so the name stuck.

Faygoluvers: Who are some of your inspirations?

PoorBoy: I grew up listening to Tupac, Biggie, NWA, Ice Cube, and Run DMC. Some of my main inspirations later in life were Immortal Technique, Tech N9ne, ICP, Prozak, Lil Wayne, Lil Wyte, T-Rock, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, Mos Def, Common, & Twista.

Faygoluvers: What makes you unique from other artists?

PoorBoy: I’m out here doin my thing, MY THING, no one else’s. My lyrics or style isn’t changing from a group’s opinion. ‘Til I die I’m gunna be straight hobo scrubbing it and lovin it.

Faygoluvers: What is your favorite Faygo flavor?

PoorBoy: Moon Mist mudafaqu!!

Faygoluvers: Who have you worked with?

PoorBoy: Besides all my homies in Brain Dead Projex, I’ve performed with Damienz Design, Cattacombs, 7th Layer, Desolvin Sin, Low Nine, & Fuck Yo Face. I’ve recorded tracks with Desolvin Sin, Low Nine, Anxiety, and Skidrow.

Faygoluvers: Who would you like to work with in the future?

PoorBoy: I want to work with any underground or unsigned artist. It’s up to the real underground to keep it alive!!!

Faygoluvers: Who have you opened or headlined for?

PoorBoy: I’ve opened for 7th Layer & Fuck Yo Face. March 25th, 2011 I’ll be headlining with O.D.D. & Dark Half in Ottawa, IL.

Faygoluvers: Do you have any merch, CD’s, mixtapes, music videos, etc in the works?

PoorBoy: I’ve release a mixtape “STFU, PoorBoy” you can download it at BrainDead’s bandcamp site. My second BDP mixtape will drop before Summer 2011, and my LP will be released sometime this year.

PoorBoy: All the raw underground SHIAT!!
