Working with GrewSum, J Derraign, H8Trid, and more, Optimus is breaking ground in Penn. for the underground. Opening for Mars and Psycho Jesus most recently, and even Liquid Assassin, Optimus is bumping some good shows for the Penn state juggalos to check. Being in Minnesota, I can’t. Wish I could. But I can’t.

Faygoluvers: Why did you choose the name Optimus?

Optimus: This is always the first question I am asked.. It literally is from the Transformers. I am a huge fan of the series way back to when the cartoon was on when I was a kid. And I was trying to steer away from the usual “Psycho K Killa” type stuff.. And thought.. Why the hell not roll with Optimus? Had my boy do me up a sick logo.. Copyrighted it.. and here we are!

Faygoluvers: Who would you consider as an inspiration?

Optimus: The first rapper I ever heard that actually had me in awe was Notorious BIG. I knew I loved rap music after hearing him. Then it turned into East Coast such as Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, EPMD, Wu Tang.. Before, most of this though I was introduced to ICP at the age of 4. My big bro liked them and he got me down, and I was 5 years old and singing half the songs to Ringmaster. So my influences vary from the old school East Coast.. To Psychopathic.. To even current underground acts such as Hopsin, H8trid, JPK, and others.

Faygoluvers: What’s your favorite Faygo flavor?

Optimus: Moon Mist.. fuck mountain dew.. haha. Either Moon Mist or Orange

Faygoluvers: What do you think makes you different or unique from other artists?

Optimus: Uniqueness and being different is VERY hard in the underground nowadays.. But I would have to say the fact everything I speak comes from my heart. I’m not a gangster or a thug.. I don’t rap about that. I’m not big into the horrorcore thing of mutilating dead babies and skullfucking nuns.. I approach rap with a realism.. And I like to story tell if I am NOT going to be speaking about my real life situations. I also think I don’t try too hard to be a “fast rapper” or have this unique flow. I bring that simple rap flow back, but people feel it!

Faygoluvers: Who have you had the chance to work with?

Optimus: I have gotten a chance to work with quite a few people in just 7 months of doing music. The first chance I got to work with H8trid, he signed me to his S2R record label.. But I have worked with Mission Infect, 7th Layer, H8trid, D-Rangd, JPK, GrewSum, J. Darraign, and I have collabs in the works with a few other big underground names.. So be on the lookout!

Faygoluvers: Who would you like to work with in the future?

Optimus: ANY Psychopathic or Strange Music artist.. of course.. I’d love to work with Hopsin, and am in the works for that. I’d really like to do a track with King Gordy, because I think 2 fat dudes could kill it.. lol. I have a lineup of underground acts id love to work with and I hope to accomplish some in the very near future!

Faygoluvers: Who have you gotten to do shows with?

Optimus: I have done shows with nearly every Underground PA artist there is.. But on a national scale: Liquid Assassin, Lord Malice, Axe Murder Boyz(upcoming), Mars, Psycho Jesus, Nick Rage, Whitney Peyton, D.E.A.D Poetz, and several other acts! Plus more on the way including D12 and King Gordy!

Faygoluvers: What do you have coming out? Any CDs, mixtapes, music videos, merch, etc coming out?

Optimus: Oh, I have merch out ALL DAY!! lol. My logo is sick and I put it on everything I can. Hit up www.facebook.com/optimusS2R and SidestreamRecords.com (webstore), and I have vinyls for sale.. T-Shirts should be up for sale VERY soon. My debut E.P. is for sale for only $5 on the sidestream store. I have a mixtape coming out in the summer entitled “Roll Out: Volume 1” and it will feature ALL of S2R, GrewSum, J. Darraign, D-Rangd, ILL E Gal, and many more!! All original tracks from myself! Also I am shooting 2 music videos in the next 2 months for songs off of “The Prime Objective” E.P.

Faygoluvers: What’s your favorite thing about the juggalos?

Optimus: Well.. being an “OG Juggalo” down since 1992.. I hate a lot of things about juggalos nowadays then I like.. But the groundwork is still there.. The family love.. That unity.. The fact MOST of the time I can walk down the street, see a ninja, and talk like we are best friends.. I really think some of the new age juggalos be giving us a bad name.. Tagging graveyards.. being gangbangers.. being just totally disrespectful assholes.. But the basis of being a juggalo is still true.. Its about LOVE its about RESPECT and its about unity!

Faygoluvers: When and where are your next few shows?

Optimus: The most important show I have is one that I booked in July.. On July 6th Axe Murder Boyz are coming through Reading PA and hitting The Silo!! Show starts at 6pm and it includes Optimus, H8trid, Mission Infect, JPK, other S2R artist N3bo w/ Lex-Cal, other awesome underground acts! Tickets are available for $12 through www.sidestreamrecords.com. Other shows are in September I will be opening up for D12. No confirmed date. August I will be at the Gathering of The Juggalos probably tearing up Club Lotus, So stay tuned for that!! and basically just keep checking with the artist page. I update it constantly with show updates and random talking!

Optimus: Damn.. I could probably fill up a book.. Well firstly is my mentor right now H8trid. Dudes done alot for my career and big shoutout to him and his lil man Chayce and girl Amber J!! All of S2R, N3bo, REG, Phatal PHD, MC Kind. A big shout out to Malitia Inc and Liggett The Demon!! They hook my tats up! Big ups to Frank! Umm.. Damn.. Everyone thats ever supported me.. I have been doing this for 7 months and I am seeing success I could only ever dream of in such a short time. Big shoutouts to DURTE!! Dudes been a godsend for me..
