Jimmy Donn

Sup juggalos and juggalettes and dope sick junkies out there. It’s your boy BeZerk here once again with an interview that actually means quite a bit to me. April 8th and February 5th, I got to meet and party up (on the 8th) with one of my favorite artists out there. Also he represents my home state. Minnesota.

Coming out of the 612, Jimmy has been bumping for quite some years. He even goes back to the Oddballer days, and worked with (and stays close friends with) juggalo favorite Liquid Assassin (also a Minnesotan). Last year, he and buddy Matt Kowalski put out a short film (that you can even get on Faygoluvers in the store section) The Musick, which featured Liquid Assassin and Werdplay of BlesteNation. The soundtrack featured tracks from King Gordy, Bizarre, Kung Fu Vampire, Dopesic, Liquid Assassin, Scum, Insane Poetry, Haystak, and more. The movie is pretty good, but honestly, the mixtape with the movie makes it worth while.

Jimmy Donn has a sick twisted style that most horrorcore artists lack. His label has some of the best Minnesota artists in my opinion (there are a lot of great Minnesota artists out there, but you all get what I mean). So, without further ado, here’s one of the most underrated horrorcore artist probably out there. Here is the Minnesota legend himself. Here is Jimmy Donn…

Interview for: Jimmy Donn
From: St. Paul, MN
Rolls With: SicFux Entertainment/Dopesic

Faygoluvers: Why did you choose the name Jimmy Donn?

Jimmy Donn: I used to go by Inzane, but people would always say that I run shit like the mafia, so they started calling me Jimmy Donn the Godfather. All I did was remove the end of the name and went with Jimmy Donn. Plus my name is James.

Faygoluvers: Who do you consider as an inspiration?

Jimmy Donn: I would have to say GrewSum, King Gordy and The Amazing Atheist.

Faygoluvers: What is your favorite Faygo flavor?

Jimmy Donn: Being diabetic I have to go with the diet root beer all day.

Faygoluvers: How long have you doing music for?

Jimmy Donn: I released my first CD in 1997. Jimmy Donn “My So Called Life”

Faygoluvers: So you started as an Oddballer, and now it’s all DopeSic SicFux. What is your next big project with SicFux Entertainment?

Jimmy Donn: We just released “The Haunted Life of Jimmy Donn” which sold very well on iTunes, and now we are pushing Killa Capone’s “Conspiracy Theory”, KiNGPiN’s “Rise of the KiNG”, Oz’s “Godspeed,” and Sicfux Presents WickedLeaks Volume 1 (hosted By GrewSum). All 4 CD’s drop May 28th at the WickedLeaks festival and are available for pre-order Friday April 22nd at SicFuxEnt.com

Faygoluvers: You just had two big shows the past couple months. In February, you opened and hosted the Wicked Winters Ball (which featured Minnesota’s own Liquid Assassin) and the Hopsin show April 8th. SicFux also have two bigger shows in the works. Please tell the juggalos what you can about this.

Jimmy Donn: Well, Dopesic (Jimmy Donn, Killa Capone, and KiNGPiN) is hitting the road to perform at Gorefest May 7th along with Prozak and Scum in Denver, CO. I have built a good relationship with Scum (LSP) and he hooks us up with shows, and vice versa. Then May 28th, Sicfux Ent. is hosting the 1st WickedLeaks Underground Music Festival featuring: King Gordy, Claas, F. Dux, GrewSum, Kombine, Cloroks, PLC, Open Minded, DyNasty, and another surprise Headliner. This is an all day all ages festival in St. Paul, MN.

Faygoluvers: Who is all on Sicfux now? You guys added Oz at the Wicked Winters Ball. Are there any others that may be added to the roster?

Jimmy Donn: At Wicked Winters Ball we added the chopper known as Oz. Then we added SDG (Skitzofrenik D-Generate). More recently we added original Oddballer member, Skoot, and then we added DJ Big H. We have plans to add some more artists soon, however first we need to focus on the talent that we have right now.

Faygoluvers: I have to do it for this interview. With all the controversy about the Red Lake shooting. What would you have to say about freedom of speech and it’s importance? Also what do you have to say to the media or their coverage of the incident?

Jimmy Donn: All I have to say about that is that I am personal friends with the family of Jeffery Weise (the School shooter). They are actually road tripping with us to Gorefest in Denver, CO. Other than that no comment.

Faygoluvers: Who would you like to work with in the future?

Jimmy Donn: I would like to see Yelawolf and Killa Capone do a track together. I would also like to see KiNGPiN do a track with Krazie Bone, and of course it would be nice to see Oz drop with Machine Gun Kelly since so many people think they sound similar. I think once they get on a track together you will be able to hear the difference. And I was lucky enough to be able to do tracks with GrewSum, King Gordy, and Scum for “The Haunted Life of Jimmy Donn”, I don’t need anyone else outside of my Sicfux Crew.

Faygoluvers: Doing so much shit independent from the mainstream, what do you have to say to the mainstream music industry?

Jimmy Donn: I do like mainstream music, and I’m curious to see what mainstream does to Tyler the Creator or better yet, what he does to the mainstream. But I love the underground because the underground is a movement that no one can fuck with. I know that every single person that “likes” my facebook page (http://facebook.com/JimmyDonn) is someone who is down with me and my music. A thousand underground fans beats a million mainstream fans any day. They don’t turn their backs, they don’t go through fads, they remain the same. And that is solid.

Faygoluvers: What’s up with your YouTube Channel?

Jimmy Donn: Well we are known for making some of the sickest music videos in the underground, so our channel is always on the edge of being banned. I would say go check out our channel for yourself and see what the fuss is about. Youtube.com/SicFuxEnt

Faygoluvers: Shout outs?

Jimmy Donn: First off much love to Scottie D & BeZerk at Faygoluvers for all their support for the underground! What’s up to my Sicfux crew: Killa Capone, KiNGPiN, Oz, SDG, Skoot, DJ Big H, Demic, Shotz, & Kandis. The SicChix: Xtina, Lil’ C, Shawna, & Beverly. My extended family: GrewSum, Scum, Cloroks & Liquid Assassin (some people don’t know that Liquid recorded his first professional song with me. He use to be knuckles but after hearing him I named him Liquid Assassin.) The East Side of St. Paul. My wife and kids, and last but not least, every single person out there supporting Sicfux Entertainment. We really appreciate each and every single one of them. And if we get the chance we will tell them all personally. Sicfux 4 Life!
