So Sick Social Club

What’s up you sick fuck juggalos and juggalettes. It’s BeZerk here again with another edition to the Underground Spotlight. Now this was supposed to be like my first interview, but I wasn’t going to wait for two weeks lol. When I first started too, So Sick Social Club’s song “Run” was featured, and I wanted to get them in then, but time didn’t allow it.

Now, coming out of the frozen wasteland known as Canada (the only inhabitable place colder than Minnesota [which the some parts close to me will get to literally -70 degrees F {Embarrass, MN}]), So Sick keeps up with their name, and puts out some sick fucking tracks. The music video for Run is doper than meth (lol that’s actually a good reference). I like the whole rap-metal scene that’s starting to come up. Such artists like Necro are making it a more popular scene, and have long before Lil Wayne was even on the scene. So juggalos, I’mma go run off and try VooDoo Drew’s Jäg recipe while you all enjoy this interview…

Interview for: So Sick Social Club
Members: VooDoo Drew, Chris So Sick, Phatkid
From: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Rolls With: SSSC Records

Faygoluvers: Why do you guys rap?

CHRIS: We rap because its the best way to get all the crazy shit going on in our heads out onto music. Rap is a huge influence on us. Hell I grew up on it. Rapping is a killer artform. You’re not only taking poetry to music like singing, but your words have to click with the drum and bass of a song to make it flow right. If it doesn’t groove, then it flops. Singing, you can get away with ignoring that.

DREW: That is a great question. It just sort of happened. Being a guitar player in different metal acts, I never thought I would be rapping. I produced hip-hop before, but never did it myself, or in front of anyone. I started laying vocal ideas for SSSC, and it just progressed from there.I don’t consider myself a rapper, a guy like Necro or Immortal Technique, they are RAPPERS, and they are geniuses. I’m just trying to blend metal vocals with a hip-hop flavor, in a different kind of way. It’s very hard to describe. I’m still evolving with my sound. Lyrically it’s very inspiring writing hip-hop verses, because they are real. I really find I can express myself better in a rap flow than a traditional rock verse style.

Faygoluvers: Where did you get your guys’ name So Sick Social Club?

CHRIS: We really wanted to come up with name that felt more like a group people could join. We wanted to form a disgusting version of the boys and girls club, where freaks like us could come and all get down and cause some shit together.

Faygoluvers: What’s everyone’s favorite Faygo flavor?

DREW: I love the Orange Flavour. If I could, I’d bang that shit in my fuckin arm! Nothing like a fat blunt, and a cold orange Faygo!

CHRIS: Fucking original cola! Rootbeer is killer too!

Faygoluvers: What genre would you guys call yourself?

DREW: That is a tough one. We are still evolving with the sound of the group. Originally, I didn’t want to play too much guitar in SSS, but that changed over time, and I keep adding more and more guitars. The new stuff is heavier, but still song oriented. My ultimate dream is to create a new sub genre of the wicked shit. I want to give people something different. I hope ya’ll dig it.

CHRIS: So-sickcore or what the fuck genre! We do have elements of horrorcore, metal, rap, rock, retro and melodies – so it’s basically a what the fuck is this genre? hahaha

Faygoluvers: Do you got any good Jägermeister recipes?

CHRIS: hands down — Jäger and Dr. Pepper, or if your feeling fucking nuts, Jäger mushroom tea! It is exactly that!

DREW: I’m feeling Jäger snowcones right now, but I’ll give you my favorite one. Take 2 shots if Jäger, pour it between a some broads titties until it drips into her bellybutton, then proceed to drink. Dont ask me about Dr. Drews Jager douche recipe! I may get arrested, and it tastes fishy. Bring your Tartar sauce.

Faygoluvers: Who would you guys consider as an influence?

CHRIS: Obviously ICP and Psychopathic, Esham, and Ozzy got me into horrorcore and stage theatrics. However, we are big fans of metal, gangsta rap, and 80’ds retro. For me, rap wise, I grew up on ICP, Eazy-E, and 2Pac. Singing wise Depeche Mode, Filter, and Tool made me want to try it. Believe it or not, fucking Frank Sinatra also inspired me to like music from an early age. “Old Blue Eyes” is the shit!

DREW: Man, being a guitar player predominately, I have a shitload of influences. Not your typical shit. I love Black Sabbath, Dio, Necro, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Ganksta NIP, Ozzy, Judas Priest, ICP, Twiztid, Stabbing Westward, Geto Boyz, La Coka Nostra, Slaine, Kiss, House of Pain, Van Halen, Sex Pistols, Deep Purple, RUN DMC, Guns N Roses, W.A.S.P., and of course Kenny fuckin Powers!

Faygoluvers: Have you done any work with anyone notable?

DREW: We’ve been blessed to work with some amazing people. We have opened for Necro, Tech N9Ne, Slaves on Dope, J Reno, Sid from Slipknot, Kung Fu Vampire, Riviera Regime, Peter Jackson, and Mars to name just a few. We have gotten amazing support from our family at Jägermeister. We are the first Canadian band with a hip-hop influence to be signed to their roster! Rue Morgue Magazine has also been amazing, the co-sponsored our last EP, and have had us play at their “Festival of Fear” and Halloween parties. We are honored to work with such great people. I hope ya’ll Sickos feel it. The new EP is tentatively called Dead Friends Don’t Tell. Every song will feature a collabo with a different artist. We wanted to do something different.

CHRIS: Also the new CD will have collabos with Slaves on Dope, Mad Child from Swollen Members, and Sean Strange.

Faygoluvers: Do you have anymore episodes of So Sick T.V. coming up?

DREW: Yes, there will definetely be new episodes coming up. A lot of really cool guest cameos too! I really want to take SSSC TV to another level. I have a ton of ideas for it. Plus, I like putting our fans on it too. It’s cool to be interactive with them. It’s cool to put out product with your actual fans in it. It brings us all closer. I really appreciate every person who supports us. I know it sounds generic, but I really do it all for them, ya’ll mean everything to me.

Faygoluvers: Do you guys have any projects coming up?

When: October 29th
Where: Niagara Falls, Canada
For: Hart n Juntington Tattoo Halloween Bash

When: October 30th
Where: Montreal, Canada
Featuring: Slaves on Dope

Faygoluvers: When and where are your next couple of shows?

SSSC: We just finish big hike around Australia to try to find old friends, find food and learn more about new world, we play many song around way, and attract new friends, but we end up in circle and back where we started. So we draw bigger map and try again later, maybe try swim some where. We see many floating tings and flying birds, we try them next time, or we may fight many fish.

Faygoluvers: Got any Shout outs?
