I feel you VD. Like, I respect that Violent J dug his raps er whatever but I just cant feel it. I do kinda like his verse on Hurt Myself tho. Something about stapling his tattoos on. Its fresh.lol I REALLY like tha new shit tho. Its not as morbid but I feel its much more "spiritual". Not to sound pretentious.lol. My only real critique would have to be tha first 10 seconds of Death In a Jar.

what dont you like about the first 10 seconds of Death In a Jar? That song is weird.Hated it first time I listened to it.I do like it now but just seems sub par to me.Death is just a breath part is dope.Should have had that go longer towards the end though.

I really enjoy the new shit too.You don't sound pretentious at all.The analogy of the lotus flower, our spiritual unfolding. I really relate to that.Comparing the stages of the lotus flower to our spiritual growth as a humans, trying to better ourselves and reach our full potential is something I/We all struggle with everyday.Great concept. That sounds pretentious.lol

All Lotus albums have a spiritual sense from intro to closing seconds. But not all have held that spiritual sense in high regards. Black Rain probably has the best spiritual sound with it's intro but by the time you get to The Walls that feeling of spiritual is in the back of your mind. Opaque has a strong dark spiritual sense from intro to about Hot Poison then it moves to just being scary.
Is Popo the only one who feels that each record is a parody of the popular musical forms of that year or era? Black Rain has a Rap feel to some songs while Tales feels more like a Nu Metal. The Mud, Water, Air & Blood has a Trap Hop sound while Opaque sounds more original with the feeling of each song.
Pecking order and you're below the worms in the dirt.

1. Opaque Brotherhood - The best album ever released on Psychopathic. Every track was dark and sounded like the soundtrack to what could only resemble a nightmare. I loved the concepts on songs like "Backwards", "Witch Trapped in this Song", "Falling", among others. A+ album.
2. Tales From the Lotus Pod (Marz) - A classic. Just barely below Opaque.
3. Black Rain - ABK shines on this album, and his absence from the newest incarnation of the group is disappointing. This would be higher than Tales if it wasn't for a couple mediocre tracks (Hell-House & Doornail Dorthy), and the drifted focus to a more lighter subject matter throughout.
4. The Mud, Water, Air, and Blood - Another amazing album, although again there are a few mediocre tracks that keep this from being the best.
5. Tales From the Lotus Pod (ABK) - I still enjoy this version of Tales, but ABK's verses just seem off and forced. I always bump the Marz version

Man, it just sounds like its gonna go into some whack ass dubstep shit (my apologies if anyone here is into EDM). But overall I still really enjoy it. I also understand Coagulate is sorta on tha electronic side of things. but it don't bother me. I cant explain it tis dope

Right at this moment, Mud, Water, Air and Blood takes the top spot, there ain't a bad track on it, I dig the spiritual transformation metaphor theme, and with Twiztid and Blaze no longer on the label, the album just existing holds more personal meaning to me than the others. In a few months, maybe a year, my opinion might change, might not, too.
Second favorite is Opaque Brotherhood. I think I just like Lotus better as five petals, even though having six would make more sense, thematically.
The ABK re-release is the only version I've got, I've heard a couple songs with Marz on Youtube and didn't really care for him anyway. I feel like Lotus' older shit just weren't as consistent as it is now, also prefer the darker more serious tones of the five petaled albums.
Black Rain is still okay, easily my last pick out of the bunch. I don't know what it is, it just rarely has that ominous vibe I'm used to from Lotus. Pass the Ax is the shit though.

1.) TIED - Tales From the Lotus Pod and The Opaque Brotherhood
... they're both so classic in completely different fashions. I love the former because it was the first and cleanest sounding. Best beats as well. Great balance of material. I got a damn Lotus cross at 17 on my back in honor of it, for chrissakes. Flawless Psychopathic album. . As for Opaque, its like an underground Lotus album to me. One of those albums that is a treasure to hear. Albeit an evil treasure. I got this in the mail a couple weeks after my brother died, and it both depressed me beyond description and simultaneously uplifted me with its songs. Every rapper is on the same page, no sex song silliness and just straight evil/ strangely un-evil rhymes. Great concepts too.
I have not gotten my MWAB CD in the mail yet!!! But as of now,
2.) Black Rain - there are songs I love on here. But some are whack. Doornail Dorothy can fuck off. And like I mentioned before, my homie Shaggy has some drunk ass, whack rhymes on here. But he is the Lotus as well, so I'd rather have him spitting oddball rhymes on a disc than being absent. . Overall rushed feel to this album. I will update after I hear MWAB.
