The ET-themed horror godfather has set the bar again with his release of “Skinwalker Ranch,” showcasing once again the dynamic and versatile realm that has created BloodStepp. The intro begins with a formal announcement from DJ Clay, and bleeds into the title track of the album, featuring Killa C and Razakel. The dynamic control he harnesses in his engineering only furthers the tracks, and this was a pleasing introduction to this album. The crunching kicks and distortion blast heavy, and pack a punch that is rare to find in most underground music. Moving onto, what I personally found to be a very comical and entertaining skit “Underground World Champion” features Kevin Gill of JCW, and has a nice ring to it as well (no pun intended there). The fourth track is what I must say is the heaviest track produced in this album in terms of dynamically melodic sustainability (DMS), and remind one of a wild-style-era Bassnectar with the notation. The hit track “Australian Alien” featuring KidCrusher has a great catchy and fun feel to it, with that laser bass beauty that creates BloodStepp’s quality signature sound. Onward toward what I found to be the most creative concept in horrorcore and the underground as a whole, is the track “Internation Chopper Convention” featuring many artists from across the globe in one track. Very well produced, and much more relaxed than that of others who have chosen to create a similar concept. The rest of the album features work from Madchild, Big Hoodoo, and the infamous merchant Killator as well. The album has a wonderful track out, and dynamic quality. It is very rare that artists come out with this level of quality in their music, especially in the horror scene. At the asking price, it is well worth the money quoted on his BandCamp page. If you are a fan of horror and dubstep, head over and listen!
