Ask a Juggalo: Do you guys hate Eminem?

It’s that time of the week again, Metro Times Detroit has released their latest “Ask a Juggalo” column. This weeks column question is being answered by

In this column, answers the question, Do you guys hate Eminem? If you would like to send a question in to be answered, you can do so by emailing [email protected].

From Metro Times Detroit:

Q: Don’t Juggalos hate Eminem?

A: To be honest with you, once upon a time that was something very real and very serious, especially the late ’90s. Basically, it was just Eminem being very jealous of the clowns, who, in his opinion, were far less talented than he. But that’s a matter of opinion, brother, because these guys literally made a million dollars slinging T-shirts out their truck. There’s numerous stories that Violent J has made very clear, like, let’s say in ’94: Kid Rock’s album comes out and he’s claiming to the clowns that he sold, let’s say, 60,000 copies. But the truth was he’d only sold 5,000 copies. But the clowns — Ringmaster at the time would have been their comparable CD at the time — were legitimately at 60,000 units sold and here Kid Rock is just bullshitting saying, “Hey, my sales are this.” Come to find out, their sales were 10 times the amount of Kid Rock’s. Same thing when Eminem was first coming out. Basically that was Eminem’s caper. But the hatchet got buried, no pun intended, mid-2000s, if you will. We’re going on almost 10 years of no beef or everybody being a bit more grown-up. And now on Eminem’s most recent album that came out, he makes it very clear on how he feels. He, in a very respectful way, name-drops ICP multiple times on the album, even saying he’s like a mix of Tyler the Creator and Violent J. He couldn’t possibly give them a bigger praise or compliment. So there is no beef anymore and there hasn’t been for lord knows how long. Actually, that’s a pretty stale topic. To me, it’s all good.

Alright my opinion on Eminem (not taking into account that he had beef with ICP). New music, fuck off with it, it’s made to attract the masses, but hey ICP are doing the same, just a different way (that is my opinion).

As for who is better, atmospherically and content wise ICP have it in the bag. But when it comes to technicality Eminem is leagues ahead. And to be honest the only album I’ve given a thorough listen to by Eminem is Infinite, and if he improves lyrically with every album, he can call himself ‘rap god’. Regardless technicality shouldn’t dictate whats good music.

So at the end of the day, all I’m going to say is neither is better than the other. And beef wise it’s practically squashed. ICP could do another diss track and Eminem wouldn’t respond, because hey that would be unnecessarily promoting ICP, and he doesn’t need to to rely on disses to get his name out, but also his victims.

    So my question is:

Who would you like to see on Majik Ninja Entertainment?

Honestly I want to try and keep it Detroit, so it might produce a similar vibe to Psychopathic early days, where all the artist lived in close proximity and it felt more communal, as a record label. So I have to go with Prozak, Dayton Family, The Have Nots (ABK/Big Hoodoo) and King Gordy.

He might not be on top of his game lately but he’s a motherfuckin lyrical genius.

And Burger King has went so far downhill its ridiculous (atleast the ones around here). They used to be my favorite fast food but now I refuse to even eat there. McDonalds, Taco Bell and Little Caesars is where it at as far as edible garbage goes
