FADE IN:

INT. KITCHEN - MORNING

We see VIOLENT J, a 10-year-old energetic kid, rummaging through the fridge for breakfast. JUMPSTEADY, his 12 year old brother , walks in.

JUMPSTEADY:
Hey, little man. What's up?

VIOLENT J:
Just trying to find something to eat. I'm so damn hungry!

JUMPSTEADY:
Language, little bro. You know Ma don't like it.

VIOLENT J:
Sorry, Jumpsteady. I forgot. So, what's for breakfast?

JUMPSTEADY:
Eggs and toast, like always.

VIOLENT J:
Come on, man. Can't we have pancakes or something today?

JUMPSTEADY:
I wish, but you know, mama likes to stick to a routine.

VIOLENT J:
Ugh, I hate routines. I'm gonna be a rapper one day and touring the world. No more routine for me.

JUMPSTEADY chuckles.

JUMPSTEADY:
You can be whatever you want to be, little bro. But for now, let's eat those eggs and toast before they get cold.

VIOLENT J:
Fine. But I'm counting down the days until I can have pancakes.

JUMPSTEADY:
(laughs) You do that, little man. You do that.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON

VIOLENT J and JUMPSTEADY are watching TV on the couch. VIOLENT J seems glued to the screen.

JUMPSTEADY:
What are you watching that's got you so hooked?

VIOLENT J:
It's this show about werewolves. They're so cool. I wish I could be one.

JUMPSTEADY:
Ha! You're crazy, little bro.

VIOLENT J:
Why? It'd be awesome. I could turn into a werewolf and scare off all the bullies at school.

JUMPSTEADY:
You don't need to be a werewolf to stand up for yourself. You got me, remember?

VIOLENT J smiles.

VIOLENT J:
Yeah, I do. Thanks, Jumpsteady.

JUMPSTEADY:
Anytime, little man.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT

VIOLENT J is laying in bed, staring up at the ceiling. JUMPSTEADY walks in.

JUMPSTEADY:
What's going on? You can't sleep?

VIOLENT J:
Yeah. I keep thinking about werewolves and stuff.

JUMPSTEADY:
(laughs) You gotta let go of that, little bro. It's bedtime.

VIOLENT J:
I know, I know. But I can't help it.

JUMPSTEADY sits on the edge of the bed.

JUMPSTEADY:
Listen, I'll tell you a secret.

VIOLENT J:
What kind of secret?

JUMPSTEADY:
Well, when I was your age, I used to be scared of the dark. But then I realized that I had control over my fear. That's what made me strong.

VIOLENT J:
Really?

JUMPSTEADY:
Really. And you know what else? You gotta remember that you're not alone. We all have fears, but it's how we face them that counts.

VIOLENT J:
Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks, Jumpsteady.

JUMPSTEADY:
Anytime, little bro. Now get some rest. You got a big day tomorrow.

VIOLENT J:
Okay. Goodnight.

JUMPSTEADY:
Goodnight.

JUMPSTEADY turns off the light and closes the door. VIOLENT J falls asleep with a smile on his face.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. KITCHEN - MORNING

VIOLENT J sits at the kitchen table, looking dejected. JUMPSTEADY walks in with a bag of groceries.

JUMPSTEADY:
What's wrong, little man? You look like you lost your best friend.

VIOLENT J:
I did. Sort of. My favorite rap group broke up.

JUMPSTEADY:
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. Who was it?

VIOLENT J:
Above the Law.

JUMPSTEADY:
Above the Law? I've never heard of them.

VIOLENT J:
That's 'cause you're old.

JUMPSTEADY playfully punches VIOLENT J's shoulder.

JUMPSTEADY:
Watch it, kid. I may be old, but I'll still kick your butt.

VIOLENT J laughs.

VIOLENT J:
So, can we go to the record store and see if they have any cassettes left?

JUMPSTEADY:
Sure, no problem. But let's finish breakfast first.

VIOLENT J:
Okay. You're the best, Jumpsteady!

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. JUMPSTEADY'S CAR - DAY

VIOLENT J and JUMPSTEADY are driving to the store. Suddenly, a CAR cuts them off and almost causes an accident.

JUMPSTEADY:
What the hell? Who drives like that?

VIOLENT J:
That guy's a maniac!

They pull up at a red light next to the car that cut them off. The driver, a tough-looking man with a scowl on his face, rolls down his window.

DRIVER:
Hey, watch where you're going!

JUMPSTEADY:
Watch where you're going, pal. You almost caused an accident.

DRIVER:
(scoffs) You got a problem?

JUMPSTEADY:
Actually, yeah. You're driving like a maniac, and you need to be more careful.

DRIVER:
You got a big mouth for a little guy. Maybe I should teach you some respect.

The light turns green, and the driver speeds away.

VIOLENT J:
What was that all about?

JUMPSTEADY:
I don't know, little man. But something tells me that guy's trouble.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. RECORD STORE - DAY

VIOLENT J and JUMPSTEADY walk up to the record store. There's a sign on the door that says "CLOSED".

VIOLENT J:
What the heck? Why is it closed?

JUMPSTEADY:
Looks like they're closed for inventory. We'll have to come back another day.

VIOLENT J:
This sucks. I really wanted to get that cassette.

JUMPSTEADY:
Hey, don't worry about it. We'll come back soon. In the meantime, why don't we go to the park and toss a ball around?

VIOLENT J:
Really?

JUMPSTEADY:
Sure. It'll be fun.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. PARK - DAY

VIOLENT J and JUMPSTEADY are playing catch with a baseball.

VIOLENT J:
This is awesome! I haven't played catch in forever.

JUMPSTEADY:
(laughs) I know. It's nice to do something different for a change.

VIOLENT J:
Definitely. Hey, Jumpsteady, do you think I could ever be a musician like the guys in Above the Law?

JUMPSTEADY:
Absolutely. You're a talented kid, and you've got a lot of passion. All you need is practice and dedication.

VIOLENT J smiles.

VIOLENT J:
Thanks for believing in me, Jumpsteady.

JUMPSTEADY:
Anytime, little bro.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. BRUCE HOUSE - NIGHT

VIOLENT J is doing his homework at the kitchen table when he hears a noise outside. He looks out the window and sees the same car from earlier parked across the street. He watches as the driver gets out and walks towards the house.

VIOLENT J:
Jumpsteady, someone's coming!

JUMPSTEADY rushes to the window and sees the driver approaching.

JUMPSTEADY:
Stay here, little bro.

JUMPSTEADY goes outside to confront the driver. The driver pulls out a baseball bat.

DRIVER:
You got a big mouth earlier, tough guy. Let's see if you can back it up.

They start fighting, and the driver gets the upper hand. VIOLENT J comes outside to see what's going on and sees his brother getting beaten up.

VIOLENT J:
Leave him alone!

VIOLENT J charges the driver and knocks him down with a flying tackle. The driver gets back up and starts swinging the bat at VIOLENT J, but he dodges and punches the driver in the face, knocking him out.

JUMPSTEADY:
(limping) You okay, little bro?

VIOLENT J:
Yeah, I'm fine. Are you okay?

JUMPSTEADY:
Yeah, I'll be all right. Thanks for coming to my rescue.

VIOLENT J:
No problem. That guy was a complete maniac.

JUMPSTEADY:
Yeah, he was. But let's not worry about him anymore. Let's go inside and get you some ice cream.

VIOLENT J:
Okay!

They go inside, and VIOLENT J can't help but feel a little bit proud of himself for standing up to the villain.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT

VIOLENT J and JUMPSTEADY are walking through the dark and creepy warehouse, looking for the villain who had attacked them earlier.

JUMPSTEADY:
Are you sure you want to do this, little man? We can call the police and let them handle it.

VIOLENT J:
No way, Jumpsteady. We have to face this guy ourselves.

JUMPSTEADY:
All right, but be careful. We don't know what we're getting into here.

They hear a noise and turn the corner to see the villain standing there, waiting for them.

VIOLENT J:
It's him!

Villain:
(laughing) So, you decided to come face me yourself, eh?

JUMPSTEADY:
We're not afraid of you, punk.

Villain:
We'll see about that.

They start fighting, and the villain seems to have the upper hand. He's bigger and stronger than both of them, and they're struggling to keep up.

VIOLENT J:
We have to do something, Jumpsteady. We can't keep taking hits like this.

JUMPSTEADY:
I know. I have an idea. Follow my lead.

JUMPSTEADY stands in front of the villain and pretends to be hurt.

JUMPSTEADY:
I can't go on. You win.

Villain:
(laughing) That's right, I do. Now get out of my sight.

As the villain turns to leave, VIOLENT J charges him and tackles him from behind. They both fall to the ground, and VIOLENT J quickly stands up and, with one swift punch, knocks the villain out for good.

VIOLENT J:
We did it, Jumpsteady! We beat him!

JUMPSTEADY:
Yeah, we did. And I couldn't be more proud of you, little bro.

They both stand there, taking in the moment, until they hear police sirens in the distance.

JUMPSTEADY:
Come on, let's get out of here before the cops get here.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. BRUCE HOUSE - DAY

VIOLENT J is sitting on the couch, looking at a newspaper article about their showdown with the villain.

VIOLENT J:
Can you believe it, Jumpsteady? We made the front page!

JUMPSTEADY:
(laughs) I guess we did. But let's not let it go to our heads, little bro. We're just glad it's over and we're safe. Now let's get working on those rhymes and beats!

VIOLENT J:
You're right, Jumpsteady. I'm just happy we'll do it all together.

JUMPSTEADY:
Me too, little bro. Me too.

FADE OUT.

THE END.
