ive noted that some of you share my opinion that the wire is the best tv show of all, so i figured it deserves its own thread.

for those of you that havent seen the wire, watch it now.  i mean now.  dont read about it, just go get season one, then watch the entire run [five seasons, i believe sixty episodes].  its outstanding.

the wire is loaded with good characters, classic scenes, the writing, acting, etc is top tier.  basicly, unless youre offended by foul language or you just flat out hate the city of baltimore, you will like this show.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

my favorite show of all time as well...nothing like it...not even just a show but a powerful message behind it as well...most of the scenes I can't imagine actually being filmed because they feel so real

I completely agree. Best show ever made. Anyone who lives or has been to the DMV area, it's an added bonus because they show makes sense that much more. The realest show ever made, definitely best cop drama by miles, the shield or SVU is child's play compared to this.

I go to Baltimore quite regularly on business and pleasure....(Cuz the Clownz won't go to DC anymore since 2006 for some reason) and the wire was on point about how shitty some parts are for sure....

OCJ_Brendan said, elsewhere...
I dont want to derail this thread any further or give away anything but for me The first three seasons are the cohesive story of Stringer Bell.  After they introduce Marlo and the high school kids aspect it lessened the appeal for me personally.  Then when Mcnulty goes completley off the reservation it came back for a bit...but I could honestly give two shits about the mayor/media aspect of Baltimore...

I do love Balitmore they are actually alot more friendly to my Honkey ass then Washington D.C....but then again it is called Chocolate City for a reason.  In Bmore poor is poor is poor, and I speak that language.

In the defense of seasons 4 and 5...Chris and Snoop's little nail gun trick is the the jam.

i think, all in all, season four is my favorite.  it hits the hardest.

if not that, season three.

Look at you all moderatory....it suits you.

Season 3 is my jam...Then it goes season 1,4,2,5

*spolier alert*

Brother Mouzone and Omar teaming up was the absolute shit imo...the literal definition of game peep game.

ew...  moderatory...  i had that in the navy.

*further spoiler alert or whatnot* [that should be assumed, from this point on, i think]

one of, if not the single, best scenes in the series:  the standoff between omar and mouzone.  its noir, its gangsta, its wild west, and a whole lot more, all rolled together.

Brother Mouzone was the shit!! "Lamar, where's my Harpers? Why, each time I send you to get my magazine, do you feel the need to forget my Harper's?" Butchie was the shit, Omar's blind bartender friend. Omar was one of the all time great characters in any show. "Omar comin'!!!" and all the people on the street would just bounce. Shit was hilarious every time. Lestor Freeman was probably my favorite cop on that show, pawn shop department lol.

My favorite line of all is from season 2, where they got the dock workers up in the police station and they're interrogating all of them, but they were all like brothers and wouldn't say shit about anything. When the DA came up after a few hours and asked "How's it going in there?" and the guy was like "After several hours of grueling questions, we have one guy ready to admit that maybe, quite possibly, the docks may be located somewhere near the water."

Also love how bubbles (another great character) set up Hurc by telling him the minister was one of Avon's boys and Herc showed up and threw him on the ground and treated him like a fuckin' scumbag and got fucked. Loved that shit cause Herc was a fuckin' asshole.
