(To mods;

I couldn't find this topic on here but feel like it does so if it already exists, feel free to delete this one and direct me that way if it's something to worry about.)

I've had Netflix for a couple years now and thinking about switchin over to Hulu.

Anyone have any opinion/thoughts about one or the other? Or, ideally, had both and have a preference? There's a couple articles that list pros and cons of both but they all seem to be a couple years old and I value your opinions more than most.

If you don't like either one, I'm down with suggested alternatives as well.

I have both. Hulu is heavy on the tv series side and a bit more current. But I can always find the most random horror flicks and documentaries in Netflix.

I guess it comes down to what your preference is: tv vs movies.

i found using a tv as a monitor completely destroyed the quality.

i watch mostly everything on my 27" monitor nowadays.

but then i sit in front of my computer almost constantly when im not working.

we have a 42" (i think) tv but it rarely gets used, and when we do watch it we just plug a usb stick in and away we go.

I have both Netflix & Hulu.

Hulu's better for currently-running shows (for a lot of stuff they'll get the new episode a week after it airs on TV). Netflix tends to be better for shows that aren't running anymore or nostalgia bait; not sure if anyone will appreciate this example, but Hulu has Steven Universe and Netflix has Courage the Cowardly Dog, which are both Cartoon Network properties, but SU is active running and Courage is nostalgia bait for college students.

I mostly use Hulu for the Daily Show, South Park, & Family Guy (Hulu actively updates these three), and Netflix for American Dad, the Cleveland Show, and various documentaries. (Netflix has Cosmos with Neil DeGrasse Tyson and the entire BBC Life series as narrated by Attenborough, plus a lot of random PBS, BBC, Nat Geo, & Animal Planet crap). Hulu seems to get more of the TLC tranwrecks, like Toddlers & Tiaras & Hoarders.

They both have their fair share of anime, but Hulu tends to err more on the side of subs, while Netflix tends to have dubs, primarily. Hulu has a fuckton of indie movies I will never watch plus the occasional big name release while Netflix is more of your jack-of-all-trades, shit-you'd-find-in-a-Blockbuster-if-they-still-existed sort of affair.

Netflix has a bad habit of having sequels (i.e. Star Trek: Into Darkness) without having the first movie. It's better about having all the seasons of something, though; Hulu can be pretty hit or miss on this with the exception of shit they're actively airing.

I don't have cable (broke college student) so I really like having both. I'm also an Amazon Prime member so I get Prime Video but I never use that shit, it sucks. I don't personally torrent, because I have a Chromebook, and trying to get it to successfully torrent is like pulling fucking teeth.

If you're into streaming though, you might check out KissCartoon, they have pretty much anything that's ever been produced that is in any way animated, even fucking obscure shit, and they have a sister site called KissAnime if that's your thing.

I have both but havent used either since i jail broke a firestick with kodi. With that you can get almost any movie or tv show. It's pretty simple to do just Google how to. Best thing I've ever done. And like sean law said on my phone i have moviehd, its just like the firestick but for your mobile device. If you don't want to spend money every month go one of those routes.  If not I recommend netflix if you prefer movies,  hulu doesn't really have good movies on it. If you are more about shows go with hulu. Also what i do is i pay for netflix and my buddy pays for hulu,  and we just swapped each other's log info so i don't have to pay for both and neither did he.

Hulu vs ? "?" = "other"

I very rarely torrent movies/shows and as far as just hooking my PC up to my TV, pretty much what Novo said. Unless I'm on Steam, in which case I use my TV as a monitor.

@potato-tan thanks for the rundown. That was pretty fucking thorough and accurate.

I'm trying the free week for Hulu deal right now and thus far, yeah, everything that has been said here is accurate. As far as movies go, it's terrible but their show selection is incredible. Finally able to watch Rick and Morty and catch up on South Park. Netflix is the exact opposite (their horror/documentaries section takes a LOT of my free time away and their show selection isn't even worth browsing unless I'm watching Z Nation or Black Mirror again) which means I might have to go with both.

Good looking out, ya'll. You were spot the fuck on.

I have netflix and don't like it besides the great shows like daredevil. And I've used amazon and do like it besides the lack of great programing.

I actually originally got Hulu exclusively for the Daily Show, lol.

I have internet service through Suddenlink, and I used to watch the Daily Show on their website. (They put it up online the day after it airs on TV.) But then Suddenlink got in a pissing contest with Viacom and decided they didn't want to pay Viacom for rights anymore, and stopped carrying Viacom channels. You'd think this wouldn't affect me, because I don't have cable, but Viacom got salty and blocked Suddenlink as an ISP from their websites, so you couldn't watch their videos. So I said fuck it, and paid Hulu so that I could keep watching my fucking show.

I don't know if Viacom is still blocking Suddenlink as an ISP (Suddenlink still doesn't carry their channels) but I don't really care at this point. I ended up using Hulu for a lot more than just the Daily Show in the end, and I don't mind giving them a bit of my money. I even pay the extra couple bucks for commercial-free viewing, because fuck that.

I've been thinking of doing SlingTV and HULU , I have just not acted on it yet.  I have cable but eventually I plan on cutting the cord because cable is insanely expensive.  I have Netflix but just for DVD's.
