I think you're lookin at it wrong. It's not people tryin to validate you so much as you tryin to validating you, if that makes any fuckin sense.
The vast majority of live music isn't good at all. What makes a good show good is the artists ability to relay what they're sayin. When you're seein someone on stage with their head down kickin dirt and spittin about how "dangerous" they are it's a bad show because it becomes apparent that they aren't being honest. You're giving a full body representation of your music. Basically, you've spent the time to make the music (which I agree is more important) but now...do you feel your own shit enough to convince others of what you're sayin? Are you reaaallly speakin from the heart or are you just good at making it sound like that? Doin it live will test you. Whether it's horrorcore, dubstep, or anything else, if you're not truly into it it'll show up live.
makin music is easy. by far, the easiest part of bein a musician.
entertaining people... thats work.

eh.. again, maybe i just dont respect the average person enough for me to feel like performing music in front of people validated me more than actually making music did...I think you're lookin at it wrong. i feel ya.. thats why i prefer to mostly perform brand new unreleased shit opposed to released stuff cuz my hearts in that new shit i been workin on and not the old stuff that i constantly feel i can re-do better, haha.. people who can just naturally control an audience def deserve their props as well as the people who learn to over time.. i guess my main point is i think up and coming artist should just mainly be concerned with making the best music they can and not worrying about shows.. ive seen a lot of local artist get lazy from the gratification you get from shows so they start to perform more and release less..

i have an easier time performing than recording.. i think what comes easier for people is a toss up.. i think its generally less work to get on stage and rap for 10 to 60 minutes than it is to put hours to days worth of time and effort in a studio.. no crowd to feed off, no in the moment mannerisms or passion to gain favor.. just you putting your best foot forward, in a silent room, trying to resonate vocally with every potential listener..

You know what's strange to me? PSY spent all of this time and money (don't know how long they actually spent) on this "infomercial" and there is literally NO information.
I don't even mind the cheesy, campy, improve your life bullshit; however, if they actually want to help juggalos improve their lives, why didn't they include any resources? They reach a broad national audience. Why didn't they post links to drug rehabilitation programs or resources like the friendship home for battered spouses?
It just seems like more PR for the March to me then an actual effort to help. I might try and contact J-Web and suggest putting some resources on some of their sites.
