I was referring to a tambourine made out of a lesbian. And from my experience they sound the same, but are usually a hideous shade of plaid.

The distinct style is probably due to the island's close proximity to the Turkish mainland and the long Turkish occupation (1462 - 1912). Since their 1912 independence, the Lesbian people have slowly returned to some of their Greek roots within the arts, but retain much of the Turkish influence.
