I think emo covers more than one genre as opposed to them playing the genre of emo.

Like goth music can be like pop to industrial.

Afi was playing the same type if music well before we knew emo as it was. 

I remember it meaning like "emotional punk". Thats pretty vague, horrible and cool sounding.

But who cares about good Charlotte u can draft them to the emos.

Well, dis shits kinda subjective, and I already outlined how I feel, an emo doesn't fight back, they just live in misery and cry about how shit it all is, my song was all about fighting back, and yeah, there still is some crying, but that's just an inevitability, it aint what I put out to the world.

And AFI went from hardcore to generic rock. All emotional but not emo. Fashion is up for discussion.

Not all but some i knew was like novelty..or u know how alot of pop is basically shitty but cool?

There was for sure alot of gems in there.

I forget alot of it but i used to really like hawthorne heights. Just enough butt to good music.

That being said the whole wave was very influential...

The commercial aspect should nit be ignored.

From fashion to presentation of the actual lyrics.

Not just a gimmic but ppl saw what sells.

Im surw it was marketed to mostly females.

Any good band knows u want girls to come. 

But yeah dont believe me...

Look at lil uzi vert.

Look at hip hop in general. They moved on from ed hardy to early 2000s fashion.

Im sure without emo AFI would have pushed the effeminate look of Decemeberunderground

I dunno. I learned alot and also listening to emo music really broke me out if my conformist punk mentality and might have even paved the way for ICP.
