It's filmed by the same guy that did the Gathering footage you've probably already seen in the infomercial/promos, but this is taken from the festival Legend Valley held three months after the first Gathering at LV in '14.

So of course the layout of people IS NOT the same as at the Gathering and even then, they have changed a few other things BUT it is VERY good at showing the actual terrain of the place and where everything is in relation to other shit.

My advice would be to mute the hippy music, throw on some of yer own shit and do whatever studying ya need!

I'm just giving out observations without suggestions, heh. Really though I've found that there are so many factors involved with being able to say a spot is "crummy" that it's too subjective. I've seen people Gather in spots I would NEVER (even more than being in direct sunlight on a hill) CHOOSE to camp, looking comfortable as fuck. so... I'm sure there's some scrubbalo out there that might have some benefit to camping next to the crappers... people be crazy.

We have a pretty big tent this year (complete with shaded "porch" so whoever in our little shantytown needs shade will have it) so where it gets set up is going to be a factor.

It was definitely off on an island of its own. Not a lot of people walking through at all. Walk was awful especially coming from Carousel at night. I usually walked back to the main entrance trail past alakazam to the very front of the fence on the parking lot side (non wristband) and busted a left through the parking lot all the way down to kindle rd. The was an opening in that top corner of the fence I could cut through to get on the other side to my tent.

By the time I got there all the area around the perimeter were set up and including the fence right in front of the parking lot. We just said fuckkit and set up on the top of the hill in the middle. we had a slight slope but nothing awful. The one cool thing was though since its parallel to kindle rd you would see the performers who were coming from the back entrance to LV on the golf carts being driven to the seminar/autograph area. And yes there was a lot more car traffic and even trucks going down that road. I would not recommend that area.

probably wont matter though. 

best tactic, honestly, is to run.  faster than every one else around you.  and, as you run, keep your eyes open for the best open spot you can find.  pick one out, set up as much of your camp as you can as fast as you can, then get to coordinating with whoever about bringin in the cars and the rest of the shit.  or hump it yourself, which is doable, but gets old. 

if you dont have anyone else to coordinate with, and dont feel like goin back n forth, might as well not bother with a detailed plan.  just keep track of whats goin on around you, move with the herd when its your turn.  hope for the best. 

in my opinion, most plans [other than these two] will have at best a fifty-fifty chance of happenin. 

or partial success; some shit works out, some doesnt.  whatever.  ya know, gathering.

fact:  me and pigg got griped at for daring to set foot in what is now the kayfabe area. 

additional fact:  that whole area is, or was, ringed with portos.  theyre spaced apart, so the overall traffic to each is a bit lower.  theres also a bunch clumped up by the wrestling stage, but theyre high traffic, of course.
