Nah homie. I live in NJ right outside of Philly so im going due west right through PA hooking up with 70 and going there. Its pretty much a straight shot once I get on the PA turnpike which btw is a fuckin rip off with tolls. But if you're going alone I will try to meet up with you no doubt. 

@cheshyr I definitely don't plan on being on Phreakcore Island much at all. I do enjoy doing things by myself and coming and going as I please. I like just roaming around and chatting with people. Its nice to meet people from all over the world who are there for the same reason you are. That leads into the other point you brought up about the gathering is unlike any other festival. I have gone to other festivals where everyone is in there little "world" and its "their" experience and even look at you funny if you try to be random or even make conversation. Last year I got a vibe of community and family and a bunch of people who just wanted to have fun and happy others wanted to do the same thing. I mean sure there are douchebags in every crowd but the ratio IMO at the gathering heavily favors a good crowd.

I just hope I get to partake in the adventure this year because if I do that is exactly how I intended on embracing it...as an adventure...or maybe like an RPG that changes depending on my choices hahaha

Either way, no matter what, you will have a good time. As long as you are not an "island" and actually go out of your way to say hello to people (whoop whoop, excuse me).

Which is really the only "con" of being there by yourself. Unless you manage to hook up with your camp mates or some other ninjas, all your thoughts are stuck up in your head with no one to share with. Like going to a movie and not having someone to look over and share the badass explosions or laugh at the funny bits with.

All the more reason to be a social person while there. If yer feelin' it or are laughing at the same thing as the guy next to you, take part in it.

The Gathering has a much different vibe than other festivals. Like people have said, it's a party. A party you got invited to. Everyone is there to be with everyone else not JUST be amongst a mass of humanity as you shuffle from stage to stage on a schedule. We've been given the tools to make a party of our own... And when you're ON your own, you get to decide when yer sick of something and walk away or there's not having to drag someone else away from something THEY were into. Walk as fast as you want. Eat when ya want. Sleep when ya want. Going solo has a freedom to it that lets you decide what you spectate and what you participate in and for how long. BUT...

The flip side of that is without someone else around, there's no one to give you ideas. "What do you wanna do now?" "I dunno". "Well, let's go try this!" or there's no one to make you stick around an event despite yourself, "C'mon, let's stay and watch this shit!".

So it really just depends on how comfortable you are with having a monolog running through your head until you get a chance to share with others. Like I said, regardless of anything else you WILL enjoy yourself! But I ain't gonna lie that until I managed to get to know my camp mates and made a fire together when it got freezing, you'll still have moments where you'd wish you had someone familiar around to share what you're seeing and doing... but that's why you bring cameras n'shit so you can get to do all that later when you post it all!

Just think of yourself as an adventurer and not a stranger in a strange land.

but in my experience, Juggalos are usually down to hang, if your vibe isnt overly rambunctious. i have rarey felt hostile vibes from Gathering and show attendees. the asshole factor is pretty minimal, moreso compared to other kinds of music event I have been at.

my GOTJ experiences have ranged from crews together with as many as six peeps to just my wife and I once. we always meet interesting people from all over. 

you will be fine. at the least it will help create some unique memories. we would hang with anyone that wanted to if we were going this year. im more a loner, but kind of an Outgoing Introvert usually.
