For my first Gathering I had to take the Greyhound (all the way from Washington state to Illinois). The experience was just that...an experience. The only advice I'd give is to sit near the front of bus, and expect a couple of loonies. As for the other stuff: You can take your own food and beverages (no alcohol), electrical outlets vary from bus to bus, and sleeping can be a bit of a hassle. Try and get a window seat if possible, that at least gives you something to lean your head against. The Great thing about taking the Greyhound is that it makes the Gathering just that much better when you get off the bus, and the trek back isn't every as bad afterwords. Anyway, happy trails and whoop whoop!

I bought my greyhound ticket a while back and I was wondering what other peoples experiences have been on a long ass bus trip (especially to the gathering) so that I can be better prepared for my trip. I'm anxious about it but excited about the gathering.

Also, I have questions that maybe I should ask the greyhound people but you guys might have the answers too, so here they go:

Can you take food and drinks on the buses or do you only get to eat at designated stops?

Do they have electrical outlets on the buses?

How difficult is it to sleep on the bus if you're on it for 2 days?

Most will have electrical outlets. They don't really check your bags for shit. Some lo's brought like pounds of bud with them on the bus I was on.

I've taken long ass greyhound trips before. Also took a bus from downtown Manhattan to the Gathering in Cave in Rock a few years back.

My advice-

Get lots of sleep in the days leading up to your trip, you won't be able to sleep much on the way to the Gathering, because of adrenaline and whatnot. But do bring a small pillow for the bus ride.

Bring several bottles of water, kleenex, granola bars, dried fruit and nuts, juice, and maybe a few apples. Nothing too heavy cause you don't want to have to drop a lot of number 2's on the way there.

By a few cheap 10 dollar MP3 players from Walmart and load them up with your favorite podcasts, they are great time killers for long journeys I've found. Of course put music from the acts you plan on peeping at the Gathering on those bitches too, to help get you pumped!

Pack really light, you can buy most of what you need like towels, extra socks, food etc when you get dropped off close to the Gathering. Worth paying for a cab to the local Walmart to get that shit after you get to the final bus stop.

Some of my homies didn't even pack a tent when I went with them, they just bought a cheap one at the closest Walmart, and left it on the Gathering grounds when we left on the Monday morning.
