I thought SpaceGhostPurp was just a flash in the pan movement, but in time his influence over new artist is uncanny.
This is not a good thing.
Set bpm to 160.
Find any kind of chord or string. Don’t even make a pattern. Just kit one key to engage it. create a cut off at the end.Paste that. Now go to your FX center and set the chord to heavy reverb.
Find the generic 808 folder. Find the most common kick. Paste that on the first measure in your drum pattern. Add to song.
For the snare do exactly the same thing as above, only placing it 3/4 in the measure. Add to song.
Find a generic Hi-hat. Make a one-two pattern with it, then at the 3/4 measure of the pattern make it an all one pattern while adding more in between them, producing a triplet sound at the end of the Hi-hat pattern. Add to song.
Hit play and marvel at how you can “produce” a Drill rap beat.
The most uninspired, lazy, Basic sounding music ever created in the history of hip hop.

just skimmed through the beats.. they were pretty dope.. sure they could find and mix cleaner kicks and hats but i dig the more raw and underground vibe.. that type of music was made long before “drill” & production software.. and lets not pretend like complexity automatically makes something good..
