I agree fully. I like Blahzay Roze, I just feel there’s a lot that was mishandled with her.
Here’s the thing: She might not have the tightest raps, but one thing that sets her apart is she does have *pipes*. Her contribution to Lyte’s One in a Million proves it. Almost every female horrorcore rapper infuses melody into certain tracks, at least in some capacity. I love this approach to the music, but moreover, I love the potential it represents. Few have done that style particularly well, but I think Blahzay might have talent enough to do it. Rapping can be improved, afterall. Not everybody can sing.

I didn’t know that was her singing on Lyte’s track. Wow.
Also, I don’t think the videos mean anything. Probably just realized they paid to have them made, so they should have them on YouTube for Ad Revenue if anyone wants to watch em.

Back in 2008/2007 Kanye West did an interview with Sway to promote his new album 808s & Heartbreak. He told Sway that he felt his new goal was to tackle melodies and incorporate that into his rap. He said that 10 years from then that will be the new sound in hop hop. 10 years later and that exactly happened. All this music on the radio Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Travi$ Scott, Desiigner, Future, etc. Is melodic. Never question the power of Kanye.

When it comes to melody in rap, I think Bone Thugz before Kanye, as a matter of course. Not to take anything away from his status as an innovator or anything, its just how I view the scale of musical progression. I was talking about a specific proclivity as it relates to the ladies of horrorcore.
Here’s a recent example. I think Blahzay lends herself to that sort of sound, especially because of the narrative approach she takes to horrorrap. Properly executed, it lends dramatic weight and emotion to the story and elevates the sound. I point to 45 Minutes by Dark Lotus as an example of this approach utilized masterfully.
The closest example we have in Blahzay’s meager catalogue is probably ‘Tommy’, but like the rest of her debut effort (as is so many Psy debuts), its rough and doesn’t showcase the artist’s range.
Edit: At this stage in the game I’ll take Mackenzie O’Quinn on a Brotha Lynch or Prozak hook. Fight me.

I had thought that was Sugar Slam on 1 In A Million, but, listening to it again I suppose I was wrong on that.
I always thought it was lyte since he can get impressively high pitched and sound like a female. Maybe lyte is just blahzay, post op.

For lack of better terms, I think Bone thugs had better harmony (in my opinion haha) but kanye had/has that mass appeal that gets EVERYBODY bumpin his shit. To me, errybody knows kanye, but very few fools know Bone Thugs these days. Kanye has that Ever-lastability, (In today’s age) versus most hip hop groups who don’t, hence me calling that mufucka a genius. In regards to blahzay (which this topic is about) I suppose I don’t know shit. I tossed my opinion out there on rap shit itself, so now I’ll shut my mouth on this topic. 1 + 1 = 2 you dumb phucks
