I would agree to a point however, i still feel Twiztid's music/style has aged the best. To me, they're easier to go back to as they have a larger catalog of "real life" tracks, as oppose to tracks based on their gimmick. More and easier to relate to for me I guess.

I keep reaching for these cd's, they are both home runs.

For me The ROC version is the better version, the beats are much tighter for "Don't Stand So Close" and "Ride the Stars" on that version.

Hell, ABK is barely putting out anything now. Native World has little, to no distribution.

That's interesting that this is one of your favorite tracks. My girlfriend and I thought it sounded like a bad early 2000's R kelly song or something. This track could be on the radio.

One of the reasons I kinda vibed with it. Different sound for sure. I'm a big fan of "mainstream" hip hop though. This track has a good flow and bumps nice in a car.

After listening to both more than 5 or 6 times since release, I must say I'm digging both versions a lot. The roc intro is definitely the better but I can't really say which version is like more. I like enjoy tracks more than the other on each version. Because the roc version is the original(pretty sure) it gets extra points from me. If that's the case seven is a monster when it comes to remixes. Matter of fact dude is possibly the best producer in the game imo.

I'd imagine the majority yes. Given that some of the tracks/verses were older material, I assume the beats were to. Don't think they'd pay Se7en for beats just to not use them for year(s).

How can you say one version sounds more like them than the other if it's their debut?

Also, of course they released it to make money. That's why you release albums.

I kinda like it. I wanna trip to it before i really talk on it but it's a nice little ep. Does kinda seem like they put too much of it out ahead or time. Coulda used more new tracks.

Alright, review time. I really dig the new (and I guess debut?) Mprint record, "Ride the Stars". After years of waiting with tracks and verses here and there, we finally got a pretty fresh EP. Is the 7 song tracklist worth the wait? Maybe not for some. There are some verses we've heard before and probably only 2 new songs actually recorded for the record (speculation). However, while it's not a jaw dropping record, ROC & Blaze put it down undeniably. With two versions of the album, one produced by Se7en and one by ROC, finally getting a definitive Zodiac record is pretty dope in 2016.

I've heard both versions multiple times now, despite not getting the record a day or two release like some (I mean WTF? I started this thread, they should be shipping my fuckin copy first.) Anyway, here's a track by track numeric review with my thoughts on which version (Se7en/ROC) stands out more. Note: The tracklist on the ROC version is ass backwards.

1. nova - Intro. Se7en version is old EOD intro. ROC version has much more depth and is longer. Pumps you up more for the "cosmic" feel of the record. (ROC)

2. Into the cosmos - My favorite track on the record. ROC's matches Se7en's production well on this track IMO. Kinda west coast sounding. Close here, but I prefer ROC's version. 5/5 (ROC)

3. Ride the stars - 3/5 (Se7en)

4. Keep it jumpin' - 2/5 (Se7en)

5. Beware of the wolf - 3/5 (Se7en)

6. Don't stand so close - Really vibin to ROC's old school beat. HOK sounding grimy. 3/5 (ROC)

If you're on the fence about buying these, they're each up on youtube. If you've been waiting like I have for this record don't do yourself the disservice of only grabbing the main version. ROC's compliments nicely and each record has something of it's own to offer.

On a side note, if you're a fan of the ROC, he raps his ass off in this and flows better than I've heard from him in a while.

Damn yall, I thought the record was pretty tight. Maybe not worth the extremely long wait, but fresh none the less. Granted, I think only 2-3 new tracks were made for the album while the remainder was old material. Along with that, there were two verses we heard before on 4 the fam 2. For what it was overall though, a short EP, I've heard much worse over the years from PSY/MNE (American Psycho EP, Get Twiztid come to mind).

Only listened to the Se7en version so far. Gonna try to blaze a bit later and put on ROC's version through some headphones later tonight. Since I started the thread, I'd like to give a track-by-track review.

I like the EP but i don't love it. Hopefully it grows on me more. Should've been a full length after 10 years of waiting. The R.O.C. version is better than the Se7en version but the tracklisting is all out of order which I thought was weird...

Got mine yesterday.

Seven version is much better.

Overall album is pretty good, but not worth the ten year wait. Starts strong and the kinda plateaus and falls flat with the last track.

I don't know how I feel about them reusing the intro from EOD and using songs recorded during their days on psy (into the cosmos, jumpin, probably others). On one hand, I love that they didn't just abandon their early work, and on the other it feels like they couldn't even fill a whole ep and had to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

This is for sure the last MNE cd I buy that's not twiztid. I will still peep the new shit on youtube or something, but no more hard copies. I gave em a chance and supported them, but MNE side projects just ain't worth it.
