I’m not complaining. But I do think it’s silly. They can call a song, “Dog Farts,” but it’s a metaphor for something else, and turns out to be a good song. They can also call a song something cool like, “Book of Revelation” and it’s just Violent J gargling mouth wash for 3 minutes.
That made me laugh. I actually pictured myself listing to the gargling for 3 minutes and then being shocked that that was all it was.

I just don’t understand what the purpose of posting the NAMES of SONGS as anything promotable for an upcoming album…It’s like if a video game just released the NAMES of the stages and nothing else; “Oh look! There’s one called Desert Level! I bet that one’s got SAND in it! … and then there’s one called Robot Forest! I bet that’ll be a scary one!…”
Or it’s like a painter advertising his new artworks by releasing a list of COLORS he used to make them; “There’s gonna be some with red in it…. maybe some blue… a couple with puce.”
Considering most song names are ironic or puns or plays on words, what’s in a name? Is it some kind of game we “get to” play until we can actually hear the songs and be all, “OOOhhh! THAT’S what they meant! Golly, I feel so vindicated!”
‘Splain it to me, meng!
totally agree with you. now if they released a single along with the tracklisting, that would make sense (or a sampler, god i miss how great the 2000 and 2001 samplers were)
on a serious… desert level does sound amazing
The first single will be on Youtube tonight.
thanks, something to check out when it slows down at work!

Because, that’s why. I always thought it was fun to think about what the track is gonna sound like and the concept of it. Maybe I’m a dummy, but just the track list alone has me even more excited than I was before. It is kinda pointless but so what?
Tech’s track list has got me hype as fuck. Lacrimosa? I tweeted him a while ago telling him that he should make Psycho Bitch 3 Lacrimosa. I guess he didn’t, but he’s still going to rap over it, I think.
Plus, it’s speculation that gets people to keep thinking about it. It gives you a glimpse of what you might or might not hear. Puts your mind in the mood of ‘I really wonder what this song is going to be about’ and gets you excited to hear these songs. It builds excitement. Plus, speculation on what an album is going to be about isn’t pointless unless you do it with a closed mind.
To me, it’s the same as buying a brand new CD and reading the tracklist on the back as you listen to it. Reading the titles gets you even more hype.
Maybe it seems retarded to you boring squares that don’t like thinking and wondering.

Then that’s why they do it. For people like you who get excited about it. It’s all worth it if it adds just a little bit to the experience.
For the ones that don’t get excited over the track list, then it wasn’t done for you.
What get one person excited is of course not always going to get the next one excited. Look at what kind of things excite @sean-law , I think those things would scare most people. :P

Didn’t mean to rustle so many jimmies…
Personally, tracklistings for MUSIC as promotion is just… masturbation.
I like TO fuck and not being fucked WITH. Quit fuckin’ strokin’ me and let me stick it in!!! [the cd… into my cd player]
Putting out a list of collaborators or guest musicians are very valid and useful things to know. But the NAMES of songs no one has heard yet just does nothing for my level of expectation, one way or the other. Total non-plus.

@sean-law Not tracing your IP, just hanging out at your house when you are not home. Your browser history would make Mike Busey blush.
P.S.: You are out of milk and snacky-cakes. Pick some up next time you are at the store.

I’d allude to being in OCJ’s house doing things with his girlfriend. Like baking cakes and painting our toe nails and trying on dresses.
I make zero objections to my making a mean cake and looking damn good in a dress….If I was 16 Lucem would holla jus sayin…
