A friend of mine and I were talking about films and how I have absolutely no desire to see the big superhero flicks like Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, or anything like that. I have pretty odd tastes. Stuff that's kinda out there. But the hard thing is finding new stuff because you have to be in the know and I simply ain't.

So whats a weird flick you saw? Something that left you feeling existential or meloncholy? something that left you confused? something you hated because you thought it was some weird art fag shit?

Tell me about it.

As an example: Right now I'm watching a movie called Mr. Nobody where Jared Leto plays this guy who is the last human who will die of old age and he's remembering his life, only, as a child he learned that he could live his entire life in a moment without time passing by not making a choice in a critical moment, so when his parents split up, he decides to both go with his mom and dad. and lives two separate lives. and also he meets three girls who he wants to hook up with but doesn't choose one so now he's got a new life with each of them in his mind and it jumps back and forth through all these different narrative threads and builds up all these different timelines simultaneously. There are some metaphysics types questions about how time works, if it is a dimension like depth, width, and height then does that mean there are other temporal dimensions? that kinda thing.

so yeah, what do you got?

Requiem For A Dream

High Rise

Predestination

The Boy (not the newer horror movie a indie that came out a year or so ago)

Ex Machina

Salton Sea

Im too sleepy to give a quick synopsis of each one but all of these are excellent movies that fit the bill for what you might be looking for.

High Rise

"Life for the residents of a tower block begins to run out of control."?

Predestination

"The life of a time-traveling Temporal Agent. On his final assignment, he must pursue the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time." this one?

The Boy (not the newer horror movie a indie that came out a year or so ago)

is this it: An intimate portrait of a 9-year-old sociopath's growing fascination with death.?

Salton Sea

After his wife is murdered, a man drifts into a world populated by thugs and speed junkies. - sounds cool. Vincent D'Onofrio is in it and he's really good.

I'm gonna peep em out. Thanks.

(the other two I am familiar with, like Scruffy's. Great flicks. thanks!)

Yep on all counts rob. Memento is a beast of a movie too. I know I have some more off the wall shit in my head somewhere and im sure they will come to me throughout the day.

Here's a couple more of the probably obvious ones

Big Fish

A Clockwork Orange

The Power Rangers Movie jk jk

Are you specifically looking for like art house type experimental shit? Cause I don't really know any of that. I'd like to hear some of your recommendations too cause I'm always looking for new shit to watch and I'm not picky when it comes to movies (fuck romantic comedies though)

Art house shit is always good if It's in English ( I'm dyslexic and reading subtitles is difficult).

My recommends would be

Felt - a woman is raped and begins knitting various personas together through costuming. That doesn't do it justice though. There's some discussion on identity ( not in the political sense) and it's got a lot of despondent energy. Not a feel good movie at all. Contains slight body horror scenes.

Jack and dianne is a great little lesbian romance with random werewolf symbolism that i think represented animalistic passion.

Beasts of the Southern Wild is a melancholy post apocalyptic story that's sort of a reflection on the hurricane Katrina clusterfuck. Hushpuppy is adorable. There's these magical beasts that look like mammoth sized boars. I think they're sorta representative of loss / death.

Don hertzfelts the world of tomorrow is a great little animated short about time travel.

There is a lot of aspiring film makers that love to experiment with fresh new ideas that get a little too off the wall for the average person to grasp. You can find a lot of their films on the deep web.

The U.K. series Misfits is better than a lot of movies, and it has Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones.)

Here's the first episode on YouTube:

If you want to watch some crazy shit, watch Ichi the Killer

Also, Tidwell I think you may appreciate Party Monster

edit: May was a weird movie as well.  I don't know if I necessarily recommend it...I remember just thinking wtf
