Fuckin' copyright laws...

I've been playing "Friday the 13th: The Game" for the past year since it came out. The whole story of how this game was made and experiencing the ebb and flow of its evolution during that time has been fun as hell.

It started out as an idea we've all been wondering if anyone would act on since the old NES days... and we got it!

Well, enjoy it while you motherfuckin' can!

Thanks to FUCKASS VICTOR MILLER and his BITCHASS copyright lawsuit, THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER CONTENT OR DEVELOPMENT on Friday the 13th:The Game! (only bug fixes and servers).

Friday the 13th: The Game has established a loyal and excited fan base over the last year. As publisher/developer, Gun and Illfonic have made every effort to provide our fans with an authentic and great gaming experience.

As many in our community may be aware, a legal claim has been made which could affect all future Friday the 13th intellectual property. Although in the past the game has not been subject to any such claim, new content and material going forward will be affected. An initial decision in this case was expected in October 2017, but no decision has yet been issued. The court review of the legal rights is in process, but final resolution may take some time. Until the claim rights can be dismissed or resolved, no new content can be released.

When we originally learned that the game fell within the crosshairs of this legal dispute, we tried to balance the creation of new content requested by our fans against the maintenance and bug fixing that our community expects and deserves. We attempted to do both within the limits of the legal case.

We’ve now been forced to accept that the lawsuit makes future content for the game, including alternate play modes, new playable Jasons and Counselors, and new maps, unfeasible now or in the future. Although the listed content types will be affected, we remain committed to launching dedicated servers on our console platforms and providing the continued maintenance and bug fixing important to supporting our fan base.

So what does this mean exactly? There will be no additional content added to Friday the 13th: The Game. This includes “Uber Jason”, The Grendel Map, Jason Kill Packs, Clothing, Emotes and new Counselors.

Again, the quick version of how this game came to be is that the developers were ORIGINALLY just gonna make a "camp counselor killer" game in HOMAGE to movies like F13 and initially only asked if they could borrow a few aspects of the franchise in that capacity; well, they apparently impressed whoever  well enough to ACTUALLY turn their game into what is now F13:TG.

So after years of development, the RELEASE of it and a YEAR's worth of players and content collected...

FUCKIN' VICTOR MILLER'S old soap opera writtin' fuckin' ass wants credit for EVERYTHING EVERYONE else did with the ONLY two characters he only ever had the most baseline of involvement in! ALL OF A SUDDEN shithead wants to assert a claim to the  ENTIRE FRANCHISE because he had something to do with writing Jason and his mother more than THIRTY years ago!

What does this mean?

Well, while this bullshit is litigated, EVERYTHING stops. All usage of the licenses must cease until everybody "gets their money". No new movies, no new toys... everyone gets to play with what they have (ie that new NECA line of Jason ActionFigures can be released but there won't be another for a little while...hrm)

That fuckin' sucks. It was a good game and was about to get better (again).

If this is what they fucked up for people who ACTUALLY acquired the licensing rights they needed to use it...

Whatchoo think Victor has in store for those that don't....?
