I've been meaning to go see it, but I've thus far been too busy to. From what I've heard, there was a lot of late in game studio fuckery, and content got cut, including a lot of the Joker's screen time. I've also seen it get praise, though, so I dunno. Hopefully I'll have time enough to go see it soon and form my own opinion.

I've heard that it is one of the worst movies out in years. From what I can estimate, they edited out a lot of dialog that may have been more essential to the story than they wanted to admit. The most common complaints being that relationships change faster than you can process and that characters are introduced with no real back story.
I'm looking forward to the directors cut.

I think it's meant to be more of a summer time action movie where people get to be entertained by their favorite characters explode shit and stuff. I don't think it's meant to be a good story with plot development. Also, too many characters for back stories and too much detail.

Am I the only one that is so sick of comic book movies? I still haven't watched Batman Vs Superman or the Civil War flick. I'm just over it, which is nuts because I love superheroes.
Deadpool was a breath of fresh air though, I guess.

I'm really burnt out too. There's too many and they don't do enough things different that they stay interesting. Basically, the only super hero stuff I care about anymore are:
- Supergirl TV show (surprisingly, bizarrely good)
- Daredevil netflix show
- Jessica Jones netflix show
- Luke Cage netflix show
- Gotham TV show (but this one I'm losing interest in).
And everything else, I'm just like yeah maybe I'll watch it. Some of them I actively won't. Like Captain America: Civil War, I'll likely never watch that. BvS, I'll wait for netflix. I didn't really care for deadpool, but that's because my sense of humor is just really, really different.

Suicide Squad never looked that great to me to begin with. I grew up with the 90s Batman cartoon -- you know the one which introduced Harley Quinn as a character? -- and as I've gotten older and witnessed the resurgence of mainstream Batman meda I've realized that no one can do Harley Quinn an iota of justice, whether it's the weird 'sexy cheerleader' vibe of the Arkham games to whatever she was supposed to be in SS.
How you gonna take the harlequin out of Harley Quinn?
300% done with her being a piece of ass on display.
Also, i've heard some really gross stuff about Jared Leto since Suicide Squad became a thing.

I finally took the time to go see this last night. It didn't think it sucked, but I can see why some would. There were definitely pacing issues, it felt sloppy at times, the soundtrack felt like it was trying a little too hard, and the single most annoying thing, to me, was that it seemed every five fucking minutes they had to verbally remind me that the people I am watching "are the bad guys." I get that. I know what and who I am watching.
But I enjoyed Will Smith as Deadshot, he had great chemistry with the others, or at least some of them, especially Flag and Harley Quinn. Harley was also good, better than I was expecting, though I wish she'd put on some pants. The Joker wasn't a complete disappointment, so there's that. Everyone else was good, but I definitely wish some of their roles could have been a bit bigger. Hard to balance them all, I guess. Over all, it was entertaining and I don't regret seeing it.

Why is that? Maybe I am looking at it incorrectly but I see nothing wrong with the way they depicted Harley. I think they could have done a better job with making the costume more like the original Suicide Squad graphic novel, but poetic license and all.

It's LITERALLY for Harley's own good. That bitch clowngrrl better stop appropriating stripper culture or some real supervillains might leave their poles long enough to curbstomp some sense into her. And whatever u do DO NOT Google "Harley Quinn hentai" or u may see Batman engaged in some light stalking (that's him in the bottom right corner.)

Ya, the movie was a big let down with an even lamer "easter egg" ending to hint at the sequel. It did have some cool action scenes, but that didn't help the overall plot one bit. Deadshot was probably the best character, which is usually what you get when you pay Will Smith. Harley's character was better than I expected, but still left a lot to be desired. Other than that, the acting was not good. It seemed like each person on the Squad played their roles relatively well individually, but their was no cohesive acting with the exception of some scenes with Smith and Robbie.
And I have to say it, Jared Leto's portrayal of the Joker was abysmal. Worst ever I think. Not quite Ben Affleck as Batman bad, but still cringe worthy.
Overall I'd give it 2/5 stars.

Generally speaking, I'm never a fan of the unnecesary sexualization of a character, in part because it tends to come at the expense of the character itself. I will say, in fairness, that I've not yet seen the movie, and I've heard her character was handled quite well, booty shorts aside. But the quickest way to render me wary of a piece of media is to slut up a pre-existing character, because "Let's do a sexy redesign" far too often becomes "this character is now only about sex, look at them tig ol' bitties; personality, what is that?"
Like, I'm not adverse to it in THEORY, but in practice, well... the best-laid schemes o' mice and men gang aft agley.

Makes sense. If they chose her outfit based on "sexy redesign" at the expense of the character, then they lessened the intellectual appeal that it may have had. I, personally, could care less about how much or how few clothes a person wears in a movie if the characterization is done well. And, of course, in some movies it is necessary to the plot to have a person sexualized. In others, it is obvious that it was gratuitous and unnecessary to the plot.
