personally, i dont think it has to have any imagery at all.

just some interesting, readable lettering sayin 'flh forum meetup massacre 2015'.  what more do you need?

[edit]

course, im talkin bout some lettering that was actually rendered by someones hand.  not just typin it out in a cheap font.

I like the Faygoman though its fresh.  We could do it your way and use the coloring for my way...hows that for a compromise?

its all moot.  itll depend on whoever actually renders the thing.

the non-artists are just gonna have to live with it.

cant really say what color scheme the gathering will be in, till everybody gets there.  really, they dont have color schemes for different gatherings.  its just whatever art gets approved in time for pressing.

kinda like the t-shirt.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

I know but theres usually a recurring theme of the logo for that year.  Its on the banners by the main stage and so forth...Im thinking the artist will take our feelings into consideration lol Scruff ever the pessimist.

if you can find a picture of this years main stage banners in time for the shirts to be whipped up, ill slavishly copy it.

I like the bottle idea, with fizz/soda spelling the words.

Dollars to Donuts itll be that clock image theyre using...with the gears and such.  Im kinda thinking like the FLH shirts @wowachick made but different of course.

How about bottle but label instead of fizz

right now, im tryin to think of a layout that implies the 'team flh forum' thing that psyral et al always be on.

as as example:  FAYGOLUVERS.NET over a big number 15 on the back, looking a little like a jersey.

also tryin to think of visually interesting ways to incorporate the necessary text into design, for the front.  something dada-esque, maybe.

i dunno.

well, then, why ever have any artwork that isnt the faygoman...?

answer:  cuz nobody wants to pay for that.  at least, nobody was into the idea last year.

neither, really.

just sayin that if all yall need is a faygoman on a t-shirt, this thread would be much shorter.

well thats oversimplifing my position entirely then.  Im not saying thats all we need, just one necessary part.  I really like the idea of a "team" esque shirt with 15 on the back and faygoluvers.net on the back.  On the front we could have a Faygoman with the words meetup and massacre above and below respectively.  That is significantly more then just a faygoman.  Then to additionally individualize it by changing the color and number each year so no shirt looks the same.

Edit: Actually the reason I brought up the Faygoman in the first place was because you said if we had a mascot youd make a rendition of it.  We do have a mascot, we don't need to use the rendition of it that exists...we could make a whole new take on it.

That was kinda my idea last year but I don't think people liked it.

This was my Photoshop copy/paste that I made a little while ago (maybe a months or so). It's too basic but about the best I can do.

I think the only complaints I had on your design were using the GOTJ font/logo, and the extra color. The blue doesn't seem to fit.

Awright... I got a silly idea. Scavenger hunt shirts. Use Psyral's design above, minus the "Gathering of the Juggalos" graphic, with "Meetup Massacre 2015" below the Faygoman. Here's where it gets fun.

Each shirt includes a silver Sharpie. On the back, have 10-20 specific "people" you have to find, with a line next to each for that person to sign/write something. With it on your back, you don't know what they're gonna write, so you may wanna be selective where possible. Examples for people to find:

  • A FLH member you hadn't met before.
  • Someone dressed like Batman.
  • A performer from the Carousel Stage.
  • A cross-dresser.
  • Someone in a mosh pit, while the pit is active.
  • A combatant from the Ninja Olympics.
  • A spinner of Frog's wheel.
  • Someone from another country.
  • Someone at their first Gathering.

I could likely come up with more, if this idea takes off. Obviously, the designer of the shirt would select whichever ones s/he wants to use, and keep it under wraps so it's a surprise to everyone.

cute game, but i would never, ever do it.

understand, my meetup massacre t-shirt is a full-on collectible.  in all seriousness, it has more collector value to me than all of my psy t-shirts and nfl jerseys combined.

ill never wear it again, much less write on it.

im bout to start another draft, see what i can hack out.  think i can do the basic concept above in a somewhat styish way.

will advise.

On the surface, I'd agree with you about writing on it, as I'd feel the same about any of my collectibles as well... However, this is a case where the writing is part of the memory, and, as such, part of the collectible as well.

On the other hand, I did say it was a silly idea.
