Majik Ninja Entertainment has been hyping a Lex The Hex Master full-length since it was first announced that he was signed to the label. I’ve been a Lex The Hex Master fan since I first heard him rap, which was the same day that was announced.

His EP Black Season really showed what he was capable of and Mr. Ugly showed us that he can still create dope shit, even when just having fun and dropping a mixtape.

I was expecting a lot from this album, and I was really hoping it would live up to my expectations. I mean… it’s his first full length! Despite this, I knew that when reviewing this album I had to stay completely honest. If I thought a song was wack, I had to state that shit. That’s the part that sucks.  The thing is though, after listening to it a couple times through, although of course some songs will surpass others, none of these songs were worth skipping in my opinion.

Lex definitely came with his “A” game! The production work throughout the entire album was like some dark shit that draws you in. It seems to flow together very well and the addition of Twiztid and others from the Majik Ninja family along with the fact that Lex, at this point, clearly understands the mind of a Juggalo, (as proven in a lot of the lyrics throughout the album) make this an instant Juggalo classic!

The entire thing was pure fire and definitely something you’ll want to add to your Majik Ninja music collection. I know I did.

1. Intro
Almost like a demonic radio transmission. Madrox doing his freaky voice explaining the origins of a book found in the astral plane that turned a man (Lex) into a Master. It’s really a dope way to open the album.  It gets the “gimmick” explanation out of the way fairly quickly and is a good setup for the rest of the album.2. Take Over
A straight up track of pure fire from Lex. There’s no overall story or explanation for the song. Just Lex basically spitting some dope shit and stating that eventually he’s gonna take this underground shit over.  It’s definitely a hype song to start the album out and listening to the rest of the songs on it, I feel he couldn’t have picked a better opener.
One thing I noticed is the beat has a bit of that 90’s feel with an overall, almost dark orchestra style going on in the background. Solid verses. Very solid chorus.
Score: 4 out of 53. Where Was You?
This track seems like it has a motive to it… maybe? Lex basically calls out all those so-called friends and homies that weren’t there before he got into this fame-game.  Nobody was there when he was working his way up but now that he’s getting there, they’re all coming out of the woodwork.  This track features what sounds like a squealing electric guitar that is a great contribution to the beat and gives the song a mellow tone while at the same time the drum-beat and bass give it that dark tone.
Score: 3.5 out of 5

4. The Boss, The Teacher, and The Preacher
A straight up revenge track. Lex takes out his boss, his teacher and his preacher.  I don’t know if it’s because I was halfway between sleep and wakefulness when I watched the music video for this track, but when I first saw it, I thought this was the best shit Lex has come out with yet. The lyrics are dark but at the same time meaningful. Especially the verse where he takes out the teacher. Holy shit.

The chorus may prove Lex can’t really sing but he was still able to make that hook catchy and it fit with the song perfectly.  This song also proves that Lex’s talents include dope-ass story-telling within his raps.  This is Juggalo music for sure.
Score: 5 out of 5

5. Domination ft. Twiztid, Boondox and Blaze Ya Dead Homie
The beat to this song sounds like they sampled the beginning music to an 80’s Sci Fi movie, but that doesn’t mean it’s not dope. It’s definitely one of the best beats on the album! This feels like an MNE roster song although Madrox and Monoxide are only featured on the chorus and don’t actually spit a verse.

Honestly the coolest part of this track was the beat and the chorus. Lex does do a great job with his verse. Boondox and Blaze also spit a dope verse but I feel like Lex could have dominated this track all on his own.  The end of the track features a skit of the MNE family leaving messages for Lex about him giving out all their personal phone numbers. This skit also features the return of “Jenny.”
Score: 4 out of 5

6. Go Wild
A Lex The Hex Master sex song? Sorta. I guess you could call it that. This is another great beat and definitely more great lyricism from Lex. Although I feel like this song isn’t anything we haven’t heard before, it does feel necessary for this album.  It’s not as graphic as a lot of sex songs you may be used to but Lex does go into some detail about what he would “do.” It’s kinda laid out as a party track too. Something I would put on at a Juggalo party for sure.
Score: 3.5 out of 5

7. I Don’t Like Your Face ft. Jamie Madrox
The content in this song sorta reminds me of the track “Bomb On’ Em” except I’m thinking I like this track way better. The title says it all: “I don’t like your face,” and that can pretty much sum up what the song is about.  I heard Lex say that this song is describing him having one of those days where he just don’t give a fuck.  I feel like when I’m having one of those days, where I feel like the whole world sucks and everyone needs to just fuck off, this would be the perfect song to jam. The music video is also worth checking out.

It’s a highlight of the album. Madrox is featured, but it’s mostly just what seems like additional vocals on the chorus. Another amazing beat. I can totally understand why they made this a music video and single.
Score: 5 out of 5

8. Disgusting ft. Twiztid
Twiztid killed their verses on this track!  Is it just me, or does Twiztid shine just as hard on their guest vocals as they do on their albums?

Another solid track and solid raps from The Hex Master. It seems to have a darker, more bass driven beat to it. Madrox makes for quite the eerie chorus on this track. Another thing is that this song seems a little bit grittier than the rest of the album but for some reason seems to really work.  I feel like this would be that track I put on after I get home from work just because I need a dope, underground rap fix.
Score: 4.5 out of 5

9. Off Beat
Although still a darker style, this song seems to be lighter and more uplifting than other songs on the album. The rap style and chorus are even a bit different than the rest of the album, but this reminds me of some classic style hip-hop. I’m loving the beat…extremely catchy! I’m not too well versed in New York styles of rap but if this is what we can expect then keep bringing that shit, Lex!
Score: 4 out of 5

10. Army Of One
Lex shows us that he really is an army of one.  This is another track with no general meaning…just Lex flexing his rap skills. I can’t stress enough how dope a lot of the beats are on this album along with Lex’s delivery. It’s a super-hype song with a kind of ‘wah-wah’ beat to it. Definitely a song I’d wanna see performed live.
Score: 3.5 out of 5

11. My House ft. Chris Rivers and Billy Danze
I heard this song before the album was out as it was previously released online. I wasn’t the biggest fan when I first heard it, but I didn’t give it the sit-down and listen with headphones that it deserved. After giving it the chance, I realized that lyrically this is actually a dope track. Lex shines more on his verses than Chris Rivers and Billy Dance but that really doesn’t matter too much because all three of them schooled this shit. They really worked well together and as a whole, all three rappers shined super bright on all of their respective verses.

It’s really dope to see Lex bringing in some cats from the underground to spotlight on this release.
Score: 2.5 out of 5

12. Dance In Eternity
The beat to this song along with Lex’s melodic/meaningful raps at the beginning gave me goosebumps right away. This is the closest to a love song on the album. Easily one of my favorite tracks. Although I’m really digging “The Boss, The Teacher, and The Preacher” with it’s story telling format, this one is very close to surpassing it. I’m a softy though.

Once again, Lex shows us that his rhymes can be put together and delivered in a meaningful/story-telling format that can easily draw the listener in. The chorus along with the amazing beat makes me wanna just close my eyes, lean back, relax and take it all in.
Score: 5 out of 5

13. Go Forth
Unlike a lot of underground artists I listen to, Lex decided to end this album with the most positive song I’ve heard him release so far. I mean, a lot of artists end on a positive note, but this track is on another level.

Lex tells us just how positive his life has been up to this point and what he has to look forward to in the future. He also sends an important message to Juggalos with the chorus. “Go forth without fear.” Oh. Auto-tune. This song has it a little bit of it but that shit is definitely justified here.

Haha bringing billy ‘dance’ to the spotlight with him. Maybe do a little research if you wanna be doing reviews. Lex will never get to billy danze’s level of popularity.
