Imagine your going 200 miles per hour down the wrong side of the highway and you narrowly miss oncoming traffic by weaving in and out on two wheels, but you crave more speed so you hit the nitros and launch off an on ramp flying threw the air like a 747. Have the picture? You need not imagine if you check out the latest installment of the Midnight Club Series from Rockstar Games, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition.

Midnight Club 3 is a joint venture between the video game geniuses at Rockstar San Diego and DUB Magazine. The bottom line with this one folks is that it works. The game breathes new life into the racing genre by simply adding detail.

Over 20 billion dollars was spent this past year on modifying automobiles, it is one of the worlds largest industries and it shows no sign of slowing. After car enthusiasts pimp their rides, they take em to the streets, and its an easy transition from the payment to the pavement in Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition. The creator of the game as previously mentioned is Rockstar Games, that fact alone should tell you what kind of game your going to get. As is the pattern with most Rockstar Releases the game is jam packed to the brim with Game modes and features to keep you hooked for months (See Grand Theft Auto and The Warriors). That perhaps is one of the largest reasons that Rockstars releases always seem to be a hit when the time comes around for a new game to be released.

Among the game modes featured in MC3 is the highly competitive Career Mode. The career mode allows the player to literally start from the bottom and work their way to the top. You begin by selecting one car from the Garage as sort of a gimme and as you compete in City Races, Club Races, Tournaments and Against other racers you build up your bank and you earn new mods for your ride, from Special Moves to Rims, Hoods, Spoilers, Wheels, Paint Jobs you name it you can earn it. Combine that with the opportunity to purchase new cars and in some cases win them, the possibilities for making your car perfect are endless.

The game isn’t all about making a pretty car its about speed, its about agility, its about handling you need it all in Midnight Club 3 because your trying to be the best the streets have seen. The Career mode gives the player a ton of options as to where, who or how you want to race next. After completing some races you can choose new vehicles with the money that you have earned, which allows you to choose from a hummer to a chopper and everything in between, you name it the odds are you can probably get it in Midnight Club 3. If 2 wheels is more your style you can pick from an array of bikes and take to the streets.

Beyond all the mods and the different kind of vehicles, this game is among other things, a racing game. There are a wide variety of tracks and within those tracks, a wide variety of decisions. One of the greatest features of the game is that you are given free reign of the course and how to get to your destinations, you can go numerous paths from alleyways to highways, your totally in control, the only thing that matters is that you get there. These choices take away from the monitany of simply going around in circles like some other racing games.

Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition is perhaps one of the greatest racing games ever created, and the Midnight Club series as a whole is one of the great racing series invented. Rockstar Games pulls it off again with Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition.

The Bottom Line: Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition is unlike any other racing game I have ever played, Rockstar games has learned a great deal from their Grand Theft Auto Series with the free roaming environment style, and it works well in the Midnight Club series. The game capitalizes on the recent success of car modification shows such as Pimp My Ride, and Overhaulin, combining these shows with the great racing games of our time, such as Road Rash and Grand Turismo. It is a fun game and it keeps things fresh by installing new features throughout the game, though for some the length of the game may be a turnoff. The game seemingly continues for days and days and days, with little progress occurring. The races themselves range anywhere from 30 seconds to 4 minutes, there is an endless supply of races, that leaves the player wondering how am i ever going to complete it! All in All if your looking for a game that will continue to be fun in the future and not end the day after you get it, this game is for you. Rockstar Games are geniuses and this game continues to support that statement. Pick up your copy of Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition, or the newer Dub Edition Remix Today!
