A long time ago i decided tech n9ne should do a cyber punk album. While everybody was waiting for that wicked shit, i ws hoping for cyborgs and hacking and whatever else. Now I'm listening to the storm (his best album to date imo) and taking afro futurism and again I'm just like DUUUUUDE cyber punk was made for you. You're like 90% there. Just take the jump. Afro futurism is on the come up. You could do songs with Janelle monae.

Plzzzzzz

Am I alone in thinking this would be dope?

What is cyber punk?

Cyber punk is a sci fi sub genre and aesthetic. If you ever saw blade runner or total recall, or read neuromancer or transmetropolitan, those are the best examples.

Typically features noir like story set in a near future where computers are deeply ingrained into the human experience. Cyborgs, clones, and genetic modification are prevalent. In a linear story like a book or movie, the protagonist is usually a gritty, street level investigator who stumbles on a conspiracy that involves either global politics or major corporations exploiting poor, ignorant people through the manipulation of technology.

Hackers and people who manipulate technology outside of its intended purpose are usually allies to the protagonist.

Since the protagonist is street level, he usually hangs out with sex workers, drug dealers, arms dealers, and petty criminals. These crimes are irrelevant compared to say the government is hacking your brain through your fancy computerized prosthetic.

On the aesthetic tip it tends to include:

  • Barcodes
  • Crazy hair
  • Broken run down future tech
  • White noise
  • Fishnet stockings
  • Retrocars fitted with future tech
  • Drugs, real and imagined

This mia video is pretty close in content but not really in aesthetic.

This tech video is closer in aesthetic but less so with content.
