I got to thinking after reading a comment on the new Twiztid video, something along the lines of "played out fake horror".

What is it that you like about ICP? Do you veer towards the wicked shit or do you like the comical side of it? Is it both?

Besides the personal preference of rapping skills, flow, etc I'm wondering if some of us are more into Twiztid at the moment because their shit is much darker.

So, do you like the direction ICP is going or do you want something else? Same for Twiztid. Do you consider their shit to be played out emo rap and should lighten up a little bit?

My problem with ICP music isn't how positive it is, it's how goofy and bland it's become. Like a bad parody of themselves when they try to be wicked and like a HORRIBLE after school special when they try to be positive.

I personally think ICP and Twiztid are heading in far different directions at the moment. Neither bad...

Twiztid has always capitalized on the horror theme better and they translate much better to the horror community (if that makes sense). I'm at the rock & shock horror convention every year and Twiztid is always in full effect. Non-Juggalo horror fans really get down with Twiztid. They see them doing all the work with Kane Hodder, Bill, Mosely, and Sid Haig along with the press Q&A panels and autograph signings and start to pay attention. I don't think ICP could come in to that same audience and get the same reaction.

Twiztid also just had an interview published in Rue Morgue magazine (one of the top horror culture mags). I think that is the market they're looking to expand into more and the direction they're heading from both a business and music point of view. Way more room for growth IMO than keeping it strictly "Juggalo"

ICP I feel are just moving on and spreading the word of the Juggalo as they've always been doing. They are just now translating it to be current in 2017. ICP always had positive messages in my eyes. You just don't have to dig as deep to find it now and that's fresh. I think we'll see more getting away from music from the clowns in both an activism sense and stuff like the DCG con. Not that there won't be new music of course...

That said, as a fan, I'm far more excited for the direction that Twiztid is heading as well as the rest of MNE. Yes that is mainly due to the music quality, but I also feel Twiztid has to be the group to come more correct on the music front. As far as I'm concerned, ICP could retire from making music tomorrow. They've paid their dues 100% while Twiztid I'd say is around 75% (which is good because I want as much new Twiztid music as I can get right now). That's no knock either. Twiztid have paid dues and then some, but musically, they haven't put the final stamp yet on their legacy yet, where I thought ICP had gotten there after the first 6 completed.

So ya, Twiztid has always done the dark horror theme well. I think they are going to keep expanding on that theme because it's what is selling for them abd Ihink they're going to move it, dare I say, more mainstream now. You know they're looking at what Tech has done. As an independent label why wouldn't you want to be like that?

Anyway, not sure if that answers any of your questions or if anything I typed even makes sense lol.

I think what happened is, both ICP and Twiztid have started to take themselves too serious now. I feel like they have figured out how you are supposed to do music, which leads them to experiment less. Back in the day they were much more playful and creative with their music, I think. Nowadays, because they have the mechanics of it down, it usually sounds overproduced and just like they are following a formula. Which happens to most musicians, I guess. Every once in a while they'll drop something that I like and I still haven't lost interest, but with Twiztid I don't like their forced intensity in their tracks now (especially when it comes to Monoxides verses) and when it comes to ICP, pretty much what Lucem said.

I think if Twiztid is trying to go mainstream they are signing the wrong people to do that.

Wicked, fierce, lost, found, or even corny, I get drawn in when they shoot straight. Hope to hear new music by Psy & MNE that's real.

This is why it must suck to be a juggalo right now. ICP makes trash music. Or, more like, they seem to be less in touch with the fanbase than ever while Twiztid is properly representing everything that drew me to the culture in the first place. But ICP are the ones bending over backwards to do cool shit for juggalos while Twiztid seems to be turning their backs on the culture over some kind of feud they are having with ICP. This might be the beginning of the death of juggalos. Meaning that juggalos will become the next anticulture that gets destroyed by media sensationalism and bandwagoners while the originals grow old and loose their roots. Just like the punk scene and the goth scene. It will never really go away, but it will be a ghost of it's former self.

The punk scene was destroyed when it became a fashion statement instead of just an idea. Same thing happened to country music. Same thing is happening right now with the wicked shit. Stop rapping about how y'all rap the wicked shit and actually rap the wicked shit.

Like you said, it'll never go away altogether

Most likely this will happen, sooner or later. It depends on ICP and on their music, I guess. Twiztid seems to just go on. Cant blame em for that, even if it makes me sad somehow. Psychopathic in their prime was more powerful than, well, everything comparable.

What draws me in is a good question, right now it's mixed feelings about great music, great entertainment and - nostalgia. I'm not sure I'd get into this music like this if I discovered it by their new music nowadays (but then again, I'm old, I'm not searching a place to find anymore, I barely can compare that). It's still this absurdity especially by the clowns (as their characters in music) and everything built on that.

Consequently I must say, it was always ICP to me. Twiztid have always been great sidekicks, but sidekicks nonetheless. ICP's art was on point for many years, now I feel they're livin on their legacy and droppin some music, that appeals to me, and some music that doesnt. But still thats way enough, because I feel they gave so much more to me over the years. I listened to TMML a lot and I do think TMML was dope overall. But I cant really dig songs like "OK", "world is yours" and so on, thats the type of music where I hate to admit Lucem's word of "trash music". These songs just sound cheap, like they didnt have enough time to make something better than those. I'm happy that I like much other stuff, I think "Lost" was a huge step in the right direction, but to make a long story short, I think they really need a new classic. (To me a dark one.) A real new classic album only ICP can provide to win over again those who abandoned. If that aint happen, the days of Juggaloism gonna be shorter and shorter, I'm afraid.

And as for Twiztid - I'll follow them to new grounds, but the magic, this fucking MAGIC will always stick with ICP. No matter what, even if it's all goin down the drain some day.

For the record I don't think Twiztid is actually turning their backs on the culture.

the dark and wicked shit as well as the uniqueness is what originally drew me in.. however the creativity is what kept me around.. both tempest and bpb had to grow on me while i still dont like mdp.. i think house of wax and found are modern icp done right, while lost and the outtakes are more bland to me..

I dont really mind the style i just have to deem it a good, haha.. and for the most part twiztids, stuff has been generally bland since "wicked".. that was the last time their dark stuff really hit with me.. since then they started workin with seven more, wanting to chop more, almost mini tech n9neish who's stuff ive always felt was generally bland as well.. like their new song, just a track thats just about killin.. no lagoon or bella morte, extra flavor to it anymore.. juggalo shit always had dope and creative beats and i feel like icp have had a better beat selection these past 8 years.. and if that shit aint dope/cool/good i aint even tryin to hear it, from any artist..

im curious as to what esham's gonna do next.. i wasnt really feelin dichotomy, it was kinda bland hip hop. where-as flytrap and fuqerbdy had some dope electronic shit as well as dope hip hop.. his latest metal-ish clips on youtube kinda remind me of suspended animation..

idk.. i think when youve put out a shitload of projects it becomes easier to be hit or miss.. and when artist are "missing" with people, it really stands out with those people.. i have faith that every artist whose been around for awhile is capable of delivering at least one more classic tho..

With ICP I came for the dick jokes. I stayed for the absurdly creative ways they painted the dick jokes in my head and the mythos they put into said dick jokes.

I'm a fan of the wicked shit first and foremost. Truthfully, I hated rap when I was a kid, and ICP turned that around for me since they were rappers talking about the same kind of slasher movie shit I was already deep into. I discovered Twiztid completely separate from ICP. I didn't know anything about record labels af the time, so I just figured they were two horror rappers who shouted each other out. Being a Juggalo came organically. But see, in those days there was nothing but the wicked shit. Sure, there was always comedy and the odd sentimental song, but nothing like the overwhelming saturation of Good Vibrations music you see today. I admit that I miss when the culture had its mysteries- Rumors about cursed Dark Lotus albums and talks of an impending apocalypse, even though we knew it was mostly bullshit it was also fun. I said before that I love how Twiztid is keeping the horror aspect alive in the music- but I've since visited their webstore and realized that they also want to sell me a TWIZTID Brand Rootbeer and a snuggie for 62.99 plus shipping. That's not wicked.

Through all of it, though, I became embedded in the culture. For all my cynicism I still find lots to love, mostly with the people. That's why I don't really hold anything against the labels. You won't catch me on some SKR Rep Horrorcore and Act Like We're Not Just a Different Flavor of Juggalo type time, it would be insincere. If I think it's not wicked enough, I'll do my part to make it wicked. Tell a spooky story, or jumpscare a bitch boy in the crowd. I'm on some

I came for interesting story telling and horror aesthetics. That said I been bored to death by twiztid for years and with the exception of the tempest era, love basically everything ICP have done. I know I'm in the minority but imo mighty death pop is at least equal to Milenko. Lost and found are at least a step below that but far better than people give them credit for. J is sharper mentally and creatively than people wanna admit. When they do bring true horror shit it is fantastic. When they unload emotion like shock or apocalypse, shit is top shelf. And when they get softer it comes off a lot better than it used to.

Dark Lotus is my favorite. It's darker but still contemplative, thoughtful, and spiritual.

I dunno. Whatever. I would enjoy another Amys In The Attic type of horror story but the world is yours is played way way way more often.
