I've been listening since I was about 15/16 years old and I'll be 25 next month, so about 9 years. It took a while before I started referring to myself as a juggalo and even longer to start referring to myself as a juggalette. The way I got introduced to the music was because of  a Rob Zombie cd I'd had since I was 8. My friend, my little sister, and I were sitting in my mom's kitchen listening to Hellbilly Deluxe when he asked if he could go get a cd from his house for us to listen to since my sis and I liked that kind of music and we said yeah, so he left and came back 15 minutes later with a cd and put it in the cd player and the rest was history. The name of the cd, you ask? The Riddlebox.

Thank you. I'll try not to be a stranger. The funny thing is that the guy that got me into the music wasn't even a juggalo. He just liked that cd. I seen him about 5 years and he was like, "You're still listening that music? When are you gonna grow up?' and I told him never.

Growing up is a scam.  Not to mention it's pretty boring.

Recently on the GOTJ Facebook I saw a discussion concerning "new Juggalos", family kids, etc.  I personally have no problem with new ninjas claiming Juggalo.

We were ALL new ninjas at some point.

There was also mentioning of listening to ICP as a requirement to claim Juggalo.  I disagree, I think you can not like any of the music and still be a Juggalo.  To me, being a Juggalo is much more than the new ICP cd or getting to gotj.

Am I alone on this?

I saw a deaf Juggalo at the gathering a few years ago, so listening to ICP is definitely not a requirement.

I think thats cool as hell man..I bet he feels that euphoria ya get at an ICP show..My non juggalo friend isnt really into the music much (riddlebox/milenko he likes) but he likes the euphoria he gets at the show says being there with all the juggalos is something magical in the air...very true.

On the topic of new Juggalos, I wanna now what happened in that moment in time when you went from not seeing yourself as down , to then fully claiming Juggalo.  Did you jump right in as soon as you heard about it or did you need convinvcing?  Did something happen that flipped your wig and made you realize?  Was it a gradual process that led you there that you didn't even realize was happening? What?

As far as im concerned there are two prerequisites to being a juggalo and nothing more...at its core...

1. You must have an open mind

2. You have an attraction to horror themes and a healthy curiousity about the dark side of life.

pretty good basics, those.  add a third:

3.  you self-identify as a juggalo.

that, as i see it, would encompass the 'moment in time' thing that dr freshness was talkin bout.

for myself, said moment would probably be when i finally got around to seein icp [and twiztid, and myzery] live.  most of the crowd wasnt what youd really call juggalos, but there were a lot of em there.  it was nice to be around people that got it, for once.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

i started listening to ICP, gradually stopped listening to everything else, bought a couple shirts at hot topic wore the fuck outa them (seriously i had two ICP shirts and i wore nothing else to school, got a lot of shit from the more "preppy girls", about wearing dirty cloths), and before i knew it i was calling myself a juggalo saying "Whoop Whoop" and the whole 9 yards. i never really woke up one day and said "i'm a juggalo!" just kinda happened

Don't really remember the moment it happened  for me. I guess just a gradual thing. After years of listening to the music and going to many shows, it will just happen.
