Actually, most of the Utah population is very pro weed. And our support for Bernie Sanders vastly out numbered the support for Donald Trump here. This is surprisingly a Sanders state. The only thing stopping us from having legal weed is the few Mormons in charge that run this state like a theocracy, but people here are genuinely pissed and getting real real tired of it. I've seen a genuine dislike for the Mormon church's meddling since they shut down a few well known bars and restaurants for refusing to close on Sundays.

More alternative/renewable energy applications would be nice. Also, I call for shifting energy from misinformation, for instance Fat Acceptance activists who teach bullshit like "Fatness has little to nothing to do with health." They are killing America one pancreas at a time.

Really? Force organized religion out? So displace millions of jobs, schools, charities all because some dipsticks take it too far?
Bring back prohibition why don't you commie.
BY THE WAY: I am a Christian with an extensive juvenile criminal past (locked up 13-17) and the ONLY place that would allow me to start my own practice even though I had the education to do so was a church. I now council and have changed the lives of many abuse victims including those abused by police, parents or even a church member. All because my church gave me a chance. You can not put all organized religion in the same box. We are not the same people. We are all different.
If you do so you are no better then the FBI when they categorized juggalos and tried to put us in a box. Sure there are those extremists but most churches really try to help others and get stuff done.
As for Mormons controlling a state. It will always be like that in a democracy as they are the majority that votes. Outvote them or move are the min options sadly. What makes the US great also makes it frustrating.

i dont think his definition of 'forced out', and yours, quite match up.
... all because some dipsticks take it too far?
that is used as justification for... basicly everything.
anything prohibitive, anyway.

in the case of utah [and lots of other places], the influence of religion over politics is far more due to power-brokering, than it ever was due to counting votes.

Let's hope not. Because it would literally be the first time I was legitimately pissed off on here. Hopefully I did misunderstand.
@Scruffy Explain power brokering in your view? To me projection of power involves one of 2 things. Monetary influence or majority influence. Most churches do not have the financial backing that they had centuries ago. 90% of the religious wealth is held by the Catholic church. As for majority or having the numbers to bully others into running things your way that is legitimate politics.

political power brokering, mind you.
well, its... brokering... of political... um, power. cant really break it down much further than that without just quoting the dictionary.
you know, shady deals that used to be made in dark, smoky rooms... but nowadays are probably done in private chat on facebook. cmon.
To me projection of power...
two different things.
really, power projection pertains to actual force. that is to say, combat.
As for majority or having the numbers to bully others into running things your way that is legitimate politics.
it would be... except for the whole church and state thing, which is flatly ignored by a buncha buncha people.

But the same people that want church removed from state want the state to remove or penalize churches in different ways. It is one sided. You know we got sued last year.....know why? We had a nativity scene in our church yard and it offended an atheist the issue ended in us taking it down and having to pay 2k to the guy.
See what I mean? The entire world is topsy turvy and we are becoming tolerant to some people while completely demonizing organizations just trying to worship and help the community.
EDIT: And I am bias because it wasn't an atheist, juggalo or a government official that pulled me out of the gutter. It was my church. They don't judge me for my music choices, clothes I wear or car I drive. They love me for me the same way you guys do. I realize there are bad churches and horrible people that claim to be Christians but the church is getting a bad rap for these people the same way Juggalos get a bad rap for a few crazy jerkoffs.

No, the majority here, like I pointed out, is pro weed and pro gay marriage (which we got now) and all that. We have a large number of Mormons here, but the number of non Mormons greatly out numbers the Mormons. And not all Mormons are ,uhhh, so Mormony? It's literally the church, because they do have a lot of money, that bullies politicians into passing certain laws. The Mormons are trying to bring prohibition back. Oh, and if I remember right we have a sin tax on cigarettes or something.
Either way, I don't care how many Mormons there are, decisions should not be influenced by religious beliefs. If you're Mormon you can damn weed all you want, you can refuse to drink alcohol, you can refuse to go out on Sundays, I even support the idea of churches refusing to marry gays, but they can't make law to force us all to follow Mormon rules, that's unconstitutional. That is no longer a democracy, it's a theocracy.

By the way I am Episcopal...we are probably one of the most tolerant churches. We have LGBT priests even both female and male.
EDIT: I would bet Mormons vote based on their personal situation and morals like EVERY other American. Generally speaking voting is highly moral and theocratic.

That Atheist story is another example of not separating church and state. You should be aloud to celebrate your religion on your property.
I've personally been kicked from Mormon temple. They got mad because I sat in the fancy chair.
My biggest issue with religion, and atheism, is when they try to force it upon everybody. Keep religion and religious politics out of school and keep them out of government. School should teach the big bang theory, you want the god theory you can take bible study. Or Quran study. Or what ever.
Also, since when did Christmas hurt anybody? Or Easter? Who cares if money says In God We Trust? Who cares if we say 'under God' in our pledge of elegance? I consider any religious symbols we have used in money and etc. as historical something I don't know, it just reminds us of our history.

NO ONE should ever be forced to believe a certain way. I know many great non Christians. Many of which are better people then the so called "Christians" I know.

Yes, but they are not the majority, and all though I can justify these things influencing abortion and things of that nature I can not justify them influencing trivial things. When people make decisions we should consider others and their beliefs too, though we all know that will never happen.

Nope, just like the tranny bathroom issue. No one considers the other side of things. It will always be polarized one way or the other. That then will turn both sides into extremism which will turn into a new civil war or at least an even bigger increase in hate crimes.
No one forsees this shit but it is happening in front of our very eyes.

I remember seeing something about the Satanic church getting a structure with the ten commandments taken down. They didn't ask for it to be taken down they just said that they wanted to put a Baphomet statue next to it do to freedom of religion and etc. but they were like 'fuck that' and just took the ten commandments down.
