i doubt even shaggy knows for sure.  

couldnt tell ya if its the same today, but when i was young, damn near every student in damn near every school was between 12.5 and 50 percent native american.  even then, it was clear to me that there were some big problems with that math.  

on the occasions that someone i know has actually looked it up, not one has ever found even a trace of native ancestry.  

this actually includes myself.  i never maintained that i had native ancestors, but one day i was chuckling about this phenomenon with my grandmother, and she proceeded to tell me that her grandmother was full native.  

but other than a single, very old photograph of a woman who is vaguely native in appearance standing next to her husband [my great-greats], there is not a scrap of evidence to support this.  her name was like sue jansen, or something.  frankly, i believe my grandma was talkin the same kinda talk as those kids.  

id expect that this sorta claim is less popular today, since genealogists are pretty focused on native lineages nowadays, and so much is documented, its gettin easier and easier to just look it up, and see if someones full of shit.  

supposedly, whole tribes are now databased, including all decendants, dating back over a century.  

theres also gene-typing, for those that wanna carry the gag to the limit.  i only know of one guy who did this, a homies dad.  but he wasnt lookin for native blood, he was trying to find out what part[s] of africa his ancestors were from.  if i remember correctly, his big surprise was that he carries gene-traits characteristic of eastern europeans.
