Hey all! My name is Sean and I'm a writer based out of New York City. I'm writing a play based on juggalo culture, and I would really love to interview some juggalos of color (specifically black or mixed race, preferably female) to create some authentic characters. I'm not looking to mock juggalos, in fact, I'm trying to represent them as authentically as possible. If you're interested in speaking to me, please PM me!

no offense, but weve all heard the 'im not gonna be mocking juggalos, i swear' bit before. guess how it usually turns out.
not sayin you aint legit. sounds, as i say, interesting. but i also tend to go by the percentages.
side note: honestly, the way some of the extremists juggalos are gettin to be these days, accuracy or authenticity might be two things im afraid to see. juggalo racism is close to outta control, in my alarmist opinion. like its trendy to be a just-a-bit-racist, right now, or sumn.
id like to hope that examples will not follow in this very thread... but hopes dont count for much.
anyway.
due to a genetic deficiency, i suffer from a major lack of pigmentation, myself. and im male. so, not very well suited for interview, as such.

also, upon further thought... as a juggalo of non-color, i probably shoulda just hung back to see what juggalos of color had to say about it first. cuz i also would like to see what points of view are out there, about a project like this. a play, i mean, based on juggalo culture.

I'm a white Latino so probably not what you're looking for but i know some peoples. They don't come around here tho. If you got a website with contact info they might be down to help.
Interviews were contrived and artificial though. To get to know juggalos you should just get to know us.
Really though we aren't any different than anybody else.

@seanp92 , And why ask for an artificial separation based on skin tone or ancestral origin? Being a juggalo has always been, to me, about seeing past superficial societal separations and knowing we are all the same.

Hey guys I'm not trollin I promise-- I'm just trying to tell an authentic story here and get some perspectives from people who aren't white since it seems a lot of juggalos, myself included, are. I've interviewed juggalos at Webster Hall and have some friends who are, and you guys are great, lovely people and I'm just trying to write a particular narrative I don't have a frame of reference for and am trying to create something real. This guy is a scab. He wants to make a stageplay adaption of American Juggalo. Anyone familiar w/ AJ knows it is probably the number one film referenced by people attempting to mock Juggalos. It's sensationalism and voyeuristic and he is unoriginal. I wish him the least of success.

I hope he does. No offense, but internet threats are like the emptiest statements ever. For reasons you understand. Not saying I haven't made them. But 9 times out of ten I call people on the bullshit when they make threats. So I hope he does, just because I wanna see if you really do.

@seanp92 , Maybe the reason the two juggalos you interviewed did not give you the "expansive perspective" of being a black juggalo that you were looking for is that being a juggalo has nothing to do with being black, white, blue or whatever. Maybe you got exactly what is real. To force ethnicity into it will take away from it's realism. Juggalos are a cross-section of society but what you are outside of being a juggalo does not matter.
If you want to create a back story, then pick any background. It does not matter. Make him a business owner, a fry cook, a research scientist, a nude model, or unemployed. It does not matter. Make him come from another country as a refugee, or an orphan, or from a prominent rich family with political connections. It does not matter. That should be the take-away.

True. I was giving it from my point of view based on his PM to @guest . Since he didn't get the "expansive perspective" he was looking for, I offered why that may be the case. ... Again, from my point of view - the viewpoint of an American mutt with practically every "race" within my ancestry.
I, though, will stick by my statement that the take-away should be that it does not matter.
