Are Juggalos Spoiled Compared to Other Music Fans?

Juggalos and Juggalettes…this is Scottie jumping on the news page on more of an editorial tip.  There has been a lot of drama and speculation revolving around Psychopathic Records lately.  From internal feuds on Twitter, talk of artists being on or off the label, a combo Gathering/March (that was quickly squashed), and more that I don’t care to even reference, Juggalos on social media are quick to voice their opinions on all of it.

In the midst of reading about it all, I saw a post that really got me thinking.  We as Juggalos are given more access to things than just about any other band on the planet.  The advent of Social Media has opened all kinds of doors to us as fans, and some of us have taken it for granted.

I know a lot of you found out about ICP, Twiztid, and any other Juggalo-related groups BECAUSE OF things like Facebook and Twitter.  For that, I’m thankful.  I’ve gained a ton of friends beyond my local scene due to it.  But back in the day when “word of mouth” truly meant telling your homies about something in person, ICP was extremely secretive and mysterious.  I remember Violent J stating at some point that he didn’t even like having their faces on t-shirts because it takes a little bit of the mystery away.

Obviously, there’s no turning back the clock…and I wouldn’t want to anyways.  What I do think though, is that some of you should give some thought about how this ultimately affects YOU.  Some of you appreciate that feeling of being on the inside, getting a brief glimpse of how things operate at a small underground powerhouse like Psychopathic.  Some of you may not care one way or another.  Then there’s the trolls.  The ninjas who latch onto something and then run it into the ground.  Look, I like memes as much as the next guy.  But some of the ones I see are straight cringeworthy.

In my opinion, the people that spew all of this venom online consist mostly of two types:

  1. Young ninjas who didn’t grow into being a Juggalo, but rather found the scene not really knowing how close-knit most of us are to each other.
  2. Those older ninjas who USED to be in the scene, for one reason or another mostly got out of it, but still have their toe in the water swirling around all of the negative bullshit and never focusing on ANYTHING positive.

I want to share something that a ninja named Hipp E Donn wrote about an experience he had with another band and how it differs so much to the Juggalo community.  He really puts things into perspective…probably much better than I just attempted to.  Check it out:

Do you guys ever consider just how spoiled we are as fans? Like fer real, if ICP is your favorite band, you prolly see them at least twice a year for fairly cheap prices. You get opportunities to meet them, talk to them, hug them with your nasty beer infested crack breath. You are more involved with this band than any other fans of any major band can ever be. Then you go home sit on your computer or phone whatever and shit on everything they do to for you. As if what they do isn’t already enough. When I say ICP I’m not just talking about Violent J and Shaggy either, I mean the entire Psychopathic Records family. The people who work their asses off to make everything that entertains YOU possible. While a lot of you live dead end pointless ass lives just doing drugs and robbing your friends because you’re too lazy to get a real job.

Check this out, I was at Riot Fest about a week ago.. maybe two but anyways, the band Social Distortion is on stage and there’s this chick standing next to me crying her eyes out. She was sooo happy to finally be seeing her favorite band live for the first time. So I kicked it with her a little bit, she said she was 34 and was from Alaska(a place where you’re probably not gonna catch a lot of tours coming too often). So she spent all this money and traveled thousands of miles to come to Chicago to see her favorite band only to be stuck in a crowd of 200,000 stale ass fairweather fans all the way in the back unable to even see the stage. She couldn’t have been any taller than 5 feet. So you know what my fairweather clowny ass did? I let the bitch sit on my shoulders for almost an hour so she could see everything. Their set is boring af compared to a clown show but still when you’re a top fan I think having a live visual of what you will probably never see again is important. She certainly loved it. Im glad I was able to make someone’s experience better than it could have possibly ever been. If her favorite band was ICP, it wouldn’t have been nearly as fresh because she could of had a meet and greet for a hundred bucks and got free merch out of the deal. Once the Social Distortion’s set ended, they were gone and nowhere to be found. This story is just an example of how great we have it as fans. So to sit around on social media constantly antagonizing every move the company makes to make things “fresher” for you just makes you look like a bunch of ungrateful bitches. I’m saying this on their behalf since if they were to say it you guys would just start a whole bunch of more dramatic bullshit. If you people would put as much energy into the March as you do starting shit on the internet, the Juggalo world be a much better place. QUIT SUCKING NEGATIVITY’S DICK! That’s my word.

You can call this an editorial, or call it whatever you’d like.  What I intended from this is to spark some conversation and get your gears turning about everything that’s gone down over the past several weeks.  Does the fact that Psychopathic’s inner workings are so open to Juggalos make your experience as a fan a little bit stale? Or do you LOVE knowing what’s going on, but hate that some things get tainted because of the disdain of others?  Maybe it’s something else altogether. Either way, I’d love to know your thoughts.  Much love y’all.

I prefer knowing what’s going on. Not the detailed drama of what happened maybe but the end results and situations at the label would be nice. Simply because it makes me feel more a part of things. Besides we are family we may not have the right to know everything but I feel falling outs and artists contract situations are very important. These are our family…. Our guys and gals we spend tons of money to support. It is one of the major reasons I love psy.

ICP has said time and time again that it isn’t about them, it’s about juggalos. Juggalos are their legacy. Juggalos are WHY they are famous. So of course they are going to spoil us.

they perform once every 3-4 years out here.. i dont gather nor can i afford a $100 meet and greet so i doubt i’ll ever meet ’em, which doesnt bother me.. maybe im not hip enough to the drama being spoken of cuz the little of it i see doesnt bother me.. as a fan i mainly just wanna hear music and im starting to feel disappointed tho, cuz blahzay/hoodoo (2 artist i dont care for) are the only releases this year, while abk & amb’s albums are still sitting on the shelf with no word on a release for shaggys solo or icp’s next project either.. so it kinda makes sense why some ninjas would dig deeper since theres not much going on musically and artist/associates are broadcasting shit from THEIR social media accounts..

All I ask for is good music. I’ll even pay for it.

I don’t feel spoiled as an ICP fan at all, and dude talks like paying a hundred bucks for a VIP meet and greet is some kind of privilege. I get it though. That wasn’t the point.

Man, Scottie D is working real hard trying to rationalize why he didn’t report on Young Wicked getting booted out of Detroit by Jumpsteady last week.

And Hipp E Donn sounds like a tool in that post.

It costs 100 bucks to meet ICP these days.

Tickets to see ICP were almost 50 bucks a piece at a lot of the shows I went to earlier this year.

And they raised the prices at the merch booth during the tour.

Shit is a business, and it goes both ways.

Part of the charm of Psychopathic Records is how engaged they are with their fans.

Don’t know why Scottie feels we are spoiled, when many of us spend thousands supporting the Hatchet.

Love how that bitch boy Hipp E Donn tried to generalize Juggalos as unemployed stinky losers, fuckin dude has no respect for the Juggalo scene.

Maybe Scottie is ashamed to be a Juggalo now, or some shit. Don’t know why else he would link us to that corny post.

    good editorial. two good editorials.
yes, juggalos are spoiled; thats is to say, some of em are. maybe even a lot of em.
no way to really place a number on it, but theres clearly a bunch that have expectations of icp that they dont even have of themselves.
theres even the occasional juggalo who extends that same attitude of privilege to scottied and flh. im doubtful that they ever spent anything to support faygoluvers [thousands of dollars or otherwise], so purchasing entitlement with money cant be the real issue. thus, the whole thing actually more about bein a spoiled brat and talkin more shit.
examples abound, and will no doubt continue. and while they do, this will continue to be a fully valid question.

Such an obvious answer/question not sure why its being asked and not just stated…oh wait you did that with your “editorial bits”

anyway preaching your fanbase to be a family is gonna entail alot of opinions and drama from both ends not sure why this shocks you other then what Miklo said, ICP,PSY,ECT..MNE.. spoil us because they want to get $$$ not because we are forcing it.

ICP could get money with out spoiling you. Look at Hopsin. People are delusional if they think they need to push the family rhetoric to get money. Remember how last year was the FIRST gathering they EVER made money off of? People still bitched about the gatherings. Now they are spending a fuck ton of their own money to make sure their fans don’t get harassed (or any fans, for that matter) by the police. I’m pretty damn sure they are spending more money to fight the government than they ever lost because of the gang label.

I find the drama entertaining and the memes are hilarious but I find the demand for drama annoying and fucking petty. People aren’t entitled to know the personal feelings between everybody on the label. You’re not even entitled to know why people leave a label. The only thing fans are entitled to are the things they pay for. The music, the shirts, the concerts, those are the things you are entitled to.
