11 Year-old Scalped by Carnival Ride appears to be Down with the Clown

Alright ninjas, I’m about to jog your memory a bit.  A few months back, an 11 year-old girl named Elizabeth Guthrie had a HORRIFIC accident on a Cinco De Mayo carnival ride in Nebraska.  Her hair became tangled in the ride and it actually ripped a chunk of her scalp off. Luckily, it didn’t kill her. You can read one of the many accounts about the incident right here.

Elizabeth, or Lulu as she likes to be called, is making tremendous progress on her recovery. She and her family are gathering signatures to push for stricter regulations on carnival rides.  This was a freak accident, but if the petition helps keep something like this from happening again, then it’ll be worth it.

Why are we telling you about this?  Because in a news story about the petition, Lulu chose to sport a hat with a Hatchetman very prominently displayed on it.  She’s 11, so who knows if she listens, or maybe has parents who are Juggalos. Regardless, it’s fresh to see her represent! You can see the story below.

You can sign the petition yourself, and it’ll only take you a few seconds.  To do so, click here: https://www.change.org/p/congress-prevent-people-from-dying-and-being-injured-on-amusement-park-and-carnival-rides

The thing that got me about seeing this was the thought….

After the horrific accident this little girl endured, after all the surgery and rehab… I am SURE she probably has quite the selection of hats to choose from (I’d bet she has one that must be as soft and airy as fuckin’ angel feathers) scarves, headwraps, whatever she needs…

But when she was getting ready to go out and do her thing to get those signatures to make something proactive and of something so shockingly negative (I can’t even CONCEIVE of what that must have been like)…

The thought that she CHOSE to wear a Hatchetman hat… and NOT to *hide her injury but to be the armor she wears over the scars as she approaches strangers to ask for their voice to join with hers…

That was my take. As far as I know, it could have been a hat she was handed or given to her. Sometimes a hat’s just a hat. But that thing looks like someone cares about it…

Gawd knows *I would feel better knowing that my favorite rusty ass carnival rides were at LEAST safe for operation (puke stains not withstanding).

The downsides to such a nation-wide law are this (if it were to ever be passed):

If the federal government ever decided that carnival rides are completely unsafe (which, in time, they would) then that’s the end of carnival rides.

Overhead costs would go up for companies these carnival ride companies. Which means that they won’t be able to financially be able to provide their services to smaller venues. Which is already happening all around the nation, due to other federal laws and the burden they’ve put on these companies, causing small town festivals not to be able to have carnival rides.

The more laws and oversight you put into the hands of the federal government alone, the more power you’re giving them to take the associated rights away. Democrats and leftists really need to think about that.
