News From the Gathering Seminar

At this year’s Gathering Seminar, Jumpsteady spearheaded the stage as various tidbits of information came rolling in. We’ve got a quick list of things that were said right below:

  • J-Webb basically did the seminar intro and did a rundown.
  • Mentions of the Vice and Spin articles from last year’s Gathering. More and more positive coverage than negative.
  • Talked about how 2013 had a subtle dark cloud. Financially it was the worst Gathering, coupled with Twiztid leaving the label.
  • Recapping of the Kaiser incident when the location of the Gathering had to be changed in 2014, and how difficult it is to find a new spot.
  • Afterwards, a special thanks towards Steve Trickle, especially because he followed through even with locals throwing an initial tantrum.
  • Talked about how Waka Flocka Flame personally wanted to be at last year’s Gathering, thus bringing up the discussion of the financial situation when it comes to having acts.
  • Die Antwoord was suppose to be at this year’s Gathering. Jumpsteady was going back and forth with Die Antwoord‘s management, even coming close to actually performing. He offered them maximum money, and even wanted to reschedule the Gathering dates so that they would show up. Finally, the last thing he heard was that “Die Antwoord only plays A list festivals.” The duo themselves had nothing to do with the decision, as only their managers were being contacted.
  • Not too sure about next year’s Gathering location yet; however, Jumpsteady reminded everyone how he sees the Gathering as a traveling circus, thus why it shouldn’t be in the same spot for too long.
  • This was followed by Jumpsteady‘s personal location pick (but not confirmed whatsoever), as Gathering 18 being in Denver, Colorado. This would also make sense due to the fact that the Gathering has yet to be held even remotely close to the west coast.
  • Explaining why Lyrikal Snuff Productions (Scum and his roster) were not at the Gathering this year due to the tradition of rotating the artists, and not having the same exact lineup from the previous year.
  • A special shoutout and thanks to Will Sigler was conducted.
  • No Deadly Medley this year due to the fact that last year’s was extremely late (about 6AM), basically everybody was dead tired, and the crowd was small. Plus, Jumpsteady couldn’t follow through with “The Chaos Theory.”
  • Trailer Park Boys were actually slated to host the main stage at Gathering 17; however, the talks fell through. Nobody knows the reason why they pulled out, but attempts will be made yet again for next year.
  • No Psychopathic Rydas due to the Wizard of the Hood set, as expected.

The video will be reuploaded after the Gathering. Keep on the lookout very soon for updates from the other seminars as well. As always, you can also access our Facebook page to see live streams of each seminar plus the archives.
