On Thursday, February 25, 2016 I attended Whitney Peyton‘s “Break the Frame” tour in Troy, New York at River City Pub.

The night started with my wife and I heading out to pick up a good friend of ours, KayKay. After about a thirty minute trip, we arrived at her house. At this point we headed to the venue to meet up with another homie CJ.

After taking some promo photos for CJ and some other random photos, we headed into the venue. CJ and I ran into Supreem and ended up discussing a bunch of different things including his upcoming Stitches fight. I wished him luck and decide to roam the venue a little bit since I had never been here before.

I ran into Reapz and Stalks from It That Betrays while roaming. We spoke belief and I ended up talking to Whitney’s DJ/Merch lady/Tour Manager Gabriella. During our conversation I found out that she used to do the same job I currently do, which was unexpected and cool.

A short time later, the first performer was set to hit the stage. Speechless Alexander started to perform, but you could tell something was off. Either the sound system in the venue or his laptop messed up and a loud fire alarm sounding noise kept going off. While people tried to figure out what was up, Speechless said, fuck it and performed his remaining set without a beat. This took me by surprise, and impressed me that he didn’t let the technical error stop him. I really hope I get another chance to check him out again with an error free set.

Choppa Slim was the next to hit the stage. The lyrics and beats were good, but this set was marred by major noticeable errors. I’m not sure if the background track was too fast or if Choppa and his two homies were just not able to keep up. Overall the set was good.

Dom Pat was next up. Dom took full control of the stage and put on a great show. He really went over with the crowd. The more he interacted, the more wild the crowd got. He rocked out a dope Eminem cover song. Overall Dom was the point in the show where it started getting more enjoyable.

Shortly after Dom Pat’s set was over, it was time for Greez Da Beast to take the stage. Greez was joined by 4 other dudes on stage.  One served as his hype man. Honestly, I doubt he really needs a hype man. Greez is straight up a fucking beast. With his vicous delivery he is surely to be a highlight of any show he is performing on. Song after song, Greez was pouring his heart out.  The crowd was feeding off his energy. Even when he called up another local rapper to perform with him for a few songs, he still commanded the audience’s attention

After a short break is was time for Supreem Da Rezarekta to come out. Honestly, heading into this show, I was not really familiar with too much of his music. After this show I am defnitely checking out more, and I suggest you do too. Supreem is a fun emcee to watch perform. He is very engauging with the crowd, always trying to get them involved. At one point during the show he brought up my friend KayKay to dance on stage with him. The show just kept getting better!

Once his set was over, Supreem told the crowd to fuck a break, and that Whitney Peyton was about to hit the stage. With that, it was time for main event.

Whitney Peyton took the stage, and the crowd let out an instant roar! Whitney performed both new and old songs including the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air them song. During her set, she managed to perform on the crowd, in the crowd and on top of a pool table. About half way through the set, Supreem, who was standing towards the back of the stage, took the mic and asked Whitney if he could perform a song he forgot. After working on a cue sound for Whitney to come back on stage, Supreem took to the mic to perform one last song. Towards the end of the song, Whitney jumped back on stage and started performing with Supreem. Whitney performed a few more songs and then ended her set with “Woopty Woo Woo,” or so we thought.

After “Woopty Woo Woo” was over, Whitney thanked everyone for coming out and left the stage. Within a couple of seconds White Out hit the stage asking if we wanted an encore. Of course we all did, so we started chanting “Encore! Encore!” over and over until White Out started performing a song. Halfway through the track Whitney hit the stage again and performed one song together with White Out.

With that the show was over, Supreem invited my little crew up on stage for a quick chat to give each a bottle of water. I waited around for a while so my crew could get photos with Whitney. Once the crowd started to leave, I was able to speak with Whitney for a bit. She wanted to make sure I was able to get into the venue fine with my camera. She also wanted to know which contributor from FLH I was, so she could keep track and get to know us all by name.

At this point we had to head out to drop a friend off and get home because both my wife and I had to work the next day. I want to thank Whitney for allowing me to cover the event and for giving my wife a hug while on stage. Shout out to Supreem, Gabrilla, and Christina for being cool people and just hanging out with my crew.
