Loading...Lo Key truly cares for his fans and “Dedicated” is a gift for the fans, to show his appreciation of their non-stop support. His fans dedicate every day to supporting everything Lo Key does, whether it be spreading the word about a new album dropping, joining the masked society, or passing out flyers locally. Lo Key fans all over the world will always have his back one hundred percent!
The five track E.P. kicks off with a hauntingly well-crafted intro that speaks for the dedicated and how they’re all that matters. It’s a perfect way to start out Dedicated and will give listeners the chill factor and have the hair on the back of their necks sticking up as if a graveyard of evil spirits entered their headphones and started to speak to the listeners through it.
“Dedicated” is the first song on the E.P., and it brings back the glory days of “Chamiliatic.” Lo Key goes all out on an extremely deep personal level (like the lyrics were carved deep into his skin, with a rusty steak knife) and doesn’t hold a thing back, even using his real name at the start of the song. It’s all about the personal sacrifices he has made throughout his fifteen year journey in music. He poured his entire heart out, as if the ink in the pen was his own blood and didn’t stop writing until the blood was completely dried out. You can feel his pain emanate from within every lyric! Melody Mercury gives an outstanding performance and her stunning guest vocals provide a beautiful dark atmosphere! This is one that is destined to become a Lo Key classic among fans.
Key Lyric: “The name’s Jonathan Thomson/ I’m a bottle of problems/most people see me and they think I’m a monster/ and so I become one, when you see me in concert”
“RIOT” does exactly what the title means, and makes you want to go out and start one in the streets. It’s a fast paced anthem and he doesn’t even seem to take a breath with the constant speed and fierce energy that he brings forth. It’s pure chaos from start to finish! Riot is Lo Key proving that after all these years, no one can spit on the mic quite like him. He’s going to keep constantly schooling other rappers on how to properly master their own craft and create a real album. The hook is catchy too and will be stuck in listeners’ heads for weeks upon weeks! If you plan on starting a riot, use this song as your main anthem.
Key Lyric: “You don’t forget how to ride a bike/ you don’t forget how to strike when the time is right”
Lo Key always knows how to bring an emotional track to it’s heart-shattering fullest and “The Monster” will grip on the heart as if, The Thing of Fantastic Four was slowly crushing an enemy and feels his last heart beat. Fans may even shed some tears upon listening. It’s a slower song, but that’s what makes it shine! It may be another song forcing Lo Key back into the rain, but it’s him being super in-depth about love and at the same time, “The Monster” is a genre bending track and reveals a new side of Lo Key musically . It also brings out the best in the rapper’s lyrical creativity and shows Lo Key’s ability to conquer new territory. Above all, Melody Mercury gives another stellar performance! “The Monster” really deserves a music video in the near future.
Key Lyric: “Truth is I don’t I don’t deserve you on some honesty shit/But yo, if true love exists this has gotta be it/ So I apologize for everything I’ve done in the past/I clean the blood off your face and it’ll never come back/ because tonight I put a leash on the monster”
“Remember” is the perfect choice as the closer for Dedicated. It’s purely dedicated to the fans! It makes being a Lo Key fan even more special and greatly appreciated. Lo Key even admits that without the fans, he wouldn’t exist. When the beat kicks in, it automatically makes your head bob and it will keep bobbing till the very end. The Jokerr really shines on this one with an extremely powerful hook! Not much more can be said other than Lo Key and The Jokerr need to do more songs on this level!

Overall, Dedicated isn’t something that’s made to just pound in the streets. The production is fit more to take fans on an atmospheric journey in the darkness through the real life of Jonathan “Lo Key” Thomson. Dedicated is another Lo Key masterpiece and the fans will forever keep his name alive within the underground.
