ICP vs FBI: Courtroom audio from today’s hearing

Earlier today, Psychopathic Records along with the ACLU went to court to battle on behalf of Juggalos and Juggalettes everywhere.  The hearing took place in Cincinnati in front of a federal judge, and lasted just over 30 minutes.  When the ACLU lawyer began talking about the hardships Juggalos and Juggalettes have faced since being added to the FBI’s national gang assessment list, it sounded like the judge was going to be tough on us.  As soon as the lawyer arguing on the FBI’s behalf started her defense of the assessment list, he was equally tough on her.

It sounds like the judge was being fair to both sides, but I’ll let you decide after listening. First, here’s a brief article from WSBT.com:

DETROIT (AP) — Insane Clown Posse’s next gig? A federal court.

It’s not a performance by the Detroit rap-metal duo, but arguments by lawyers who say Insane Clown Posse’s fans have been unfairly targeted by police. A 2011 FBI report described fans as a “loosely organized hybrid gang.”

A Detroit federal judge last year said the U.S. Justice Department isn’t responsible for how authorities use a national report on gangs. An appeals court in Cincinnati is hearing arguments Thursday.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan says the free speech and due process rights of Insane Clown Posse and fans are being violated. The fans are known as Juggalos.

The two members of Insane Clown Posse are Joseph Bruce, known as Violent J, and Joseph Utsler, known as Shaggy 2 Dope.

Now, here’s the full 30+ minute audio from today’s hearing:

Sugar Slam showed some support for the ACLU via Twitter as well:

Let us know what you think after listening!  Props once again to TrueJuggaloFamily.com for bringing this to our attention!

I’m Travis King I haven’t listing to the audio as you yet but I will say that I am a proud US Army and Iraq War Veteran and a Juggalo and as being both it is very hard for me to accept Juggalo’s and Juggalette’s being labeled Gang Members and I want our side to be taken serious and I want the FBI to stop saying we are a gang and slandering our name and trying to stop Psychopathic Records artist from performing Show.

the sad truth in all of this is if we as a group show these fuks were not a gang .with things like we already do community service, food drives helping the homeless but we already do this and we cant stop people with hatchet man tatoos or icp maskes from commiting crimes so the court isnt going to listen to us or icp.america is already a policed state seemes to me we might as well put up or shut up .and when i say put up i mean hold ur hatchets high mo fuckos

true but we need to hang tight until its decided because as a juggalo I think us being labeled as a gang was mainly so they can stop us all together so us going out and causing coas will permintily put us on the list but if we stand back and just throw our life style at the world in a less noticeable way we will still be known and we get what we want also but going out and destroying our rights will put us in the feared zone and we don’t need to be in that zone, even us running underground we still have to come up for a little air.
