I took an 18-hour road trip to Denver, Colorado, from Billings, MT, to catch Twiztid’s Back To Hell: The Darkness Tour.   When I arrived, Kissing Candice‘s drummer Tommy recognized me and we walked around town for a bit to catch up and looked for the best food to eat, not realizing the venue carried food. We ended up eating burgers and chicken strips at The Roxy. The folks who run The Roxy Theater do a damn good job and I love the fact that the  food they serve inside the venue is delicious and affordable.  The entire staff was extremely professional. The show was completely sold out and some were even in line as early as 2 p.m., five hours before doors opened!  Max occupancy 500!

Legendary Hip-Hop pioneer Insane Poetry hosted the show and introduced each act before they jumped on stage.  We couldn’t have asked for a better host! Insane Poetry kept the excitement level up through the roof as the crowd roared every time he spoke on the mic.

Kissing Candice

New York’s Horror Metalcore titans Kissing Candice opened up the tour and completely murdered the stage! They wore John Carpenter inspired masks and brought creepy to the next level. The Juggalos absolutely  felt the bands spleen-bursting breakdowns and the devilish growls from frontman Joey kept the chaos on the floor moving! Another highlight from the band are the keyboard elements, they were beautiful and  meshed perfect.  The pits lasted throughout Candice’s entire set, as the Juggalos welcomed them with open arms.  Show up early and don’t miss their set!

The Damn Dirty Apes

The Damn Dirty Apes know how to rock a mic.  Their blend of original hyphy Hip-Hop had the crowd literally going apeshit! Everyone was bobbing their head during their whole set! Mr. Grey and And Clockworc better not put the mic down anytime soon, for their stage show will no doubt bring them greatness in the future.

Davey Suicide and I

Davey Suicide & CTC

Davey Suicide sure did win over the pure hip-hop side of the crowd with their addictive gothic flavor. Lots were grooving out! For the unfamiliar, Davey are true masters of modern industrial. They brought forth skull-crushing 90’s style arena rock riffs with well-crafted infectious hooks that could stay inside  a listener’s head for months on end.  Davey’s rebellious Anthem,”Kids From America”, connected deep within the Juggalo crowd. Indubitably a great match! A major highlight from the Darkness Tour indeed! Tim Skold should  be proud.

Kung Fu

Kung Fu Vampire

Kung Fu Vampire is always a pleasure to watch. Simpy because he always steps up his stage show beyond previous live tour’s, every time the Vamp heads out on a new tour. So much raw passion and energy from the vampire that night, it was beyond inspiring. Kung Fu truly loves music and his live band knows how to captivate an audience, so there is never a dull moment.   When fan favorite “Dead Girls Don’t Say No”  started live, it was the loudest crowd reaction I’ve ever seen for Kung Fu Vampire. Astonishing!

I got the chance to meet Twiztid and attended the VIP Meet ‘N’ Greet. They were super rad and super kind to me. They even signed every single album I owned. I asked other fans who were VIP how it  went for them and everyone said Twiztid really connected with fans during conversations. One fan  went with his mother and said “it was the coolest experience he has ever had with a band.”

Twiztid & Blaze

Twiztid & Blaze

This was the second time I’ve seen the Demented Duo live and it was completely off the hinges! I’ve never seen Juggalos so wild before!  When Madrox & Monoxide  kicked of their set with “Badside”, all hell broke loose! Twiztid’s over the top energy brought out the music demon inside everyone at The Roxy! Everyone shouted  along to every single song and the pits were the biggest during Twiztid! Halfway through the set, Twiztid disappeared into the darkness. All of a sudden you could hear them shouting backstage, as Twiztid were trying to bring Blaze Ya Dead Homie back from the dead to perform on stage.  Holy shit, you should have seen the faces of the Juggalos when Blaze hit the stage!  So many smiles glistened in the stage light!  From the roaring excitement of the Juggalos, you knew things were about to become even more wild! Twiztid and Blaze even performed “4 Thoze Of U” from the Mirror Mirror E.P!

Twiztid closed out the night with the heartbreaking Hip-Hop ballad, “Ldlha Ibcsywa“. People held up their lighters throughout Ldlha Ibcsywa and I saw more than a few with tears of joy pouring down their painted faces.  Twiztid and Blaze thanked all the fans for showing up and told the audience that without them there would be no Twiztid and bowed before leaving the stage. It was a jaw-dropping performance!

If The Back To Hell: The Darkness Tour is hitting your area, don’t miss out! A great mix of Metal and Hip-Hop. Every artist will kill it live and Twiztid truly do love their fans! Here is to another 20 years of Twiztid! Salute to Jamie and Paul!
