New Twiztid article / interview from TheDailyTimes.com

Over at TheDailyTimes.com, they posted a new article / interview with Twiztid that dives into a lot of different topics.  A lot of it has to do with them being compared to Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, their separation from Psychopathic Records which they describe as an “amicable divorce”, Juggalos, their past, and what everyone can expect out of The Darkness!  You can read about all of that, and more  at the link below:

Forget the Juggalo crown: Twiztid set out to do their own thing @ TheDailyTimes.com

Forget the Juggalo crown: Twiztid rappers set out to do their own thing

Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope — the controversial horrorcore rappers known as Insane Clown Posse — may have originated the Juggalo concept, but their protégés in Twiztid helped make it a way of life.

These days, Jamie Spaniolo and Paul Methric — who go by the stage names Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child, respectively — have left the Psycopathic Records fold to strike out on their own. But being a Juggalo isn’t a brand name exclusive to ICP, Methric told The Daily Times during a recent interview.

“The biggest misconception with Twiztid is that we’re just like ICP,” Methric said. “That’s the biggest misconception by every kid, every media outlet, every faction. We’re absolutely 100 percent different. Juggalo is just a word they came up with; we made it a movement.

“It’s like a mother and a father had 50 million kids, and the mother and the father amicably divorced. Sometimes some of the kids are going to be like, ‘(Forget) mom.’ Some of them are going to say, ‘(Forget) dad. You’re gonna have that, and we understand 100 percent.”

The same urban squalor of Detroit that spawned Insane Clown Posse was also the birthplace of Twiztid. Methric and Spaniolo were members of the rap trio House of Krazees before that group disbanded; a demo tape caught the attention of ICP, which signed the guys to Psychopathic Records. When ICP made the jump to Island Records, they took Spaniolo and Methric along for the ride; over the course of the next decade, the duo released more than a dozen albums that earned respect from the legion of fans who call themselves Juggalos.

The subject matter isn’t all that cerebral — mayhem, insanity, graphic violence and misogynistic sex are the calling cards of those artists who dwell in the Juggalo stable, and Spaniolo and Methric have proven themselves adept at delivering what fans want.

“The first thing we learned is that you’ve got 15 minutes to win people over,” Methric said. “We learned how to become performers, as opposed to just being some rappers on stage with 30 guys with towels. We learned how to portray the music in a way that’s absolutely believable, and we don’t rehearse to do that. The setlist puts itself together, and we go out and we do it.”

Like every rapper, the guys in Twiztid aren’t reticent to brag. Braggadocio is a cornerstone of hip-hop, but Methric pointed out that the difference between Twiztid and other rap groups is that he and Spaniolo have to go harder than their peers. After all, he added, it takes a certain type of individual to paint himself up like a sadistic clown and spit rhymes detailing graphic fantasies of dismemberment and madness.

“We don’t hide behind the makeup; that’s not what we’re doing,” he said. “It just makes us that much more awesomer to look at. Nobody wants to look at a couple of old white dudes on stage, and we look absolutely kick ass when we wear it. It just adds to it.”

Almost two years ago, the duo announced its departure from Psychopathic Records; since then, the pair have formed their own label — Majic Ninja Entertainment — and earlier this week, they released the first album from their own small-but-growing stable of artists: Blaze Ya Dead Homie’s “Gang Rags: Reborn.” The departure of Twiztid — which performs Saturday at The International in Knoxville — isn’t meant to be taken as a “falling out” with Insane Clown Posse, Methric added, but as the next chapter in the Twiztid saga.

“We have a brand we wanted to expand, and there was a feeling there that it seemed to be getting smaller and smaller,” he said. “Before it was just us stuck in a room by ourselves, it was best for everybody that we do our own thing. And those guys, they want to see Twiztid succeed too, regardless of where we go. It was like, ‘I love you; we love you; we all love each other. It sucks we can’t do this together, but it’s nothing personal.’ It has nothing to do with ICP and everything to do with Twiztid.”

In addition to running their own label, the guys are focusing on the next Twiztid release: “The Darkness,” scheduled to drop Jan. 27.

“This record will solidify that we are the kings of the wicked (stuff), that there’s nobody darker and nobody more demented,” Methric said. “We’re going to give you the wicked (stuff) the way it should be.”

And while Twiztid – like every act associated with Insane Clown Posse and the Juggalo lifestyle, which have become whipping boys (and girls) for critics of popular culture and music in recent years – has its fair share of detractors, Methric is confident that anyone who sees his band live will come away with a certain level of respect, if not outright allegiance.

“We don’t have a million dollar stage with all kinds of Faygo and blood; all we have is microphones and a partner,” he said. “If you take those bands and reduce them to what we do, they couldn’t hold a candle to what we do.

“I’ll challenge anybody who wants to bring it: Take away all your bells and whistles. We don’t bring a bunch of dumb (stuff); we bring a bunch of energy, and that’s what we want. At the end of the day, I want your soul.”

ICP just came up with the word juggalo and Twiztid are the ones making it a movement, and Twiztid are the kings of the wicked shit.

Is it me or was Monoxide being a bit to arrogant? Twiztid are cool but ICP are the Kings of Wicked and there are a lot of Juggalos that gravitate to one or the other. I heard of Juggalos that might never have been Juggalos if they didn’t get in to Blaze. I would say ICP are the mother and father, Twiztid is more like the uncle and aunt lol. Esham is the Grandfather. But, that was most definitely a diss to ICP when he said the Faygo comment, he shoulda thought about that before saying it. ICP concerts are the shit, Twiztid concerts are cool, but KMK don’t have any of the bells and whistles Mono spoke of but they blow Twiztid out the water. And again Twiztid is cool and all but Monoxide had his foot in his mouth in this interview. P.S House of Krazees is better. Sorry.

Monoxide just fired the opening shots that is gonna spit this rag-tag family apart. ICP is the shit and Twiztid is the shit, but Monoxide is getting too fucking arrogant. Thought they didn’t like to brag.

Also, they’re gonna have juggalos picking sides, fighting and arguing over ICP vs. Twiztid and calling each other fakes, but alot do that already, mostly fam kids.

If you pick sides for any other reason than not liking the music, you’re a fucking dumb shit.

I dunno what Monoxide was smoking. JUGGALOS invented juggalos. He’s talking out his ass in this interview.

I’d be cranky too if I had to give 4 posted interviews a week. Just let them focus on the music and getting things together & stop putting mics in their face. I’m sure many will disagree but that my view and where I’m at with this. Give ’em some growing room.

Wow. Not only did he/they just openly diss ICP and show themselves to be arrogant, but they also admitted that they don’t know much about Juggalo history. All in one interview. Way to go, Monoxide.

It pisses me off that he made that remark, and then went on stage and rapped in face paint. Does he see the hypocrisy there?

Twiztid helped usher in the family era but the juggalo scene existed before them. Revisionist history. And weird to hear him talk shit on stage performances with gimmicks Considering they cancelled an entire tour with KMK years back because KMK didn’t want to help pay for gimmicks at the venues. Twiztid was hella salty over that. Now gimmicks are a bad thing? Ok. I get you guys are free now and can say whatever but get off your own dicks and don’t believe your own hype.

mono is completely disrespectful to icp at this point. chances are twiztid wouldn’t have made it even close to this far without their help. they would be working average jobs. and everyone thought j was an asshole but it’s not looking like it compared to mono. if twiztid wants to make money and have a successful label I don’t think pissing off fans, burning bridges, and ripping people off is the way to go.

anyone still think theres no beef? ICP will always be number 1 in my book, but right now Twiztid is hot. I really hope the 3rd Card isn’t horrible. ICP have a lot to prove with this album. Its just Mono talking shit. Jamie don’t really say anything, but just do the goofy shit. Mono obviously has a lot of aggression and shit inside him, and I like that cuz he has been lyrically on point as of late. Just needs to put a tube sock in it.

I have a feeling some of that was taken out of context, or some words were dropped. I mean seriously it this is the kind of thing they were talking about with the FLH interview last week about papers and shit trying to make it look like there is beef when there isnt.

Twiztid shows are pretty boring in my opinion. Last time I went to one was 2012 (3 times that year actually) and the main reason I went was to hear them play old stuff. Sure they have high energy but it sometimes seems awkward, for example, I seen a video of madrox performing one of their slower songs but the guy was bouncing around as if it was miracle’s “bounce” video. I prefer a theatrical show over a awkward “high energy” show. They are not as cool as they think they are.

Yeah, this time there’s no avoiding those swipes. They weren’t inferred or any kind of playful ribbing.
But didn’t they just spend a good chunk of Scottie’s interview telling people talking about beef or trying to create it to go fuck themselves? So wtf was *that?! Not since the, “We save lives!” comments has it seemed like they got their heads up their asses a bit.
I ain’t gonna lie and say that Twiztid wasn’t what I enjoyed most and brought me to the Carnival but this is like Cleavland Brown talkin’ shit about Family Guy…

I got FrightFest this Saturday, we’ll see.

Idk. Idc. I’m just here for the music. Wether Twiztid and ICP are cool or not, which they said they’re still cool, I could care less, that’s they problem if they got beef with each other, if they did. I’m not gonna take a side. Even if they made diss tracks (highly unlikely), I’d listen to both and they’d prolly both be pretty dope, imma stay in the neutral party.

Imm a jus sit back and see how this all plays out. With speculations goin round like joints at a Cheech and Chong show, this, like the cheech and chong show, shall be mildly entertaining. I mean it kind of does seem like their last few interviews jabs have been given by Mono, with Jamie tryin to be the comic relief inna way that’s jus my opinion, but it does seem really hypocritical to then turn around and say “but we’re cool”, after said jabs were allegedly given. I do believe Mono said “there’s no problems. People who only want there to be problems between us, try and start shit”. But also remember there is more to their lives than jus PSY and MNE. They got lives outside their careers, and some shit may be happening in that world that could be trickling over, yet they keep those lives seperate, so Idk. Wait and see.

Some people just sound so dumb. There would have never been a new Lotus album if there was some kind of serious beef. When Twizitd speaks on ICP, theres obviously going to be a mixed sentiment. Sometimes Twizitid speaks about their mentors, the dudes who put them on, to whom they are FOREVER INDEBTED. Looks like a lot of you didn’t catch that part or just ignored it but thats real shit. Other times Twizitd speaks about their former employer who didn’t promote their shit and felt a little burnt through business…. Guess what…. These are 2 of the same people they are speaking about and they are entitled to have more than one perspective since there is a friendship and business angle to the story. I think they earned the right to vent their opinions after almost 20years ups and downs. Quit breeding hate and just sit back and enjoy the tunes.

Saying Twiztid plays better music nowadays is an opinion. To me ICP has way better music, although I admit Twiztid may spit better, but I don’t look for who spits better all the time. ICP’s songs have much more depth and not just emotionally I mean character. And for all those saying ICP didn’t push Twiztid forgets that they were on numerous tours, inside ICP album booklets they always advertised Twiztid. By 2004 they didn’t need to do all that shit Twiztid can push themselves and ICP still advertised their shit. I just think the old adage “if you don’t have nothing nice to say don’t say shit” applies in this interview. Mono shouldn’t have said anything about faygo or being Kings of the Wicked Shit ect. Because in previous interviews they say that people are trying to start shit between ICP and them when it looks like they are throwing jabs and than going back and saying nah it’s all in your head. All Twiztid do on stage is dance, badly, I should add. Look, it doesn’t even matter Twiztid is cool and I dig their music. ICP is better and I love their music. I’m just pointing out it was fucked up what he said and that they ARE throwing jabs. And thats cool Mono can speak his opinion and we all don’t have to agree, but don’t spread the hate, just the facts. And love that we agree to disagree.

I’m sorry, but I got one more comment to add about Twiztid spitting better than ICP. WHO FUCKING CARES!!! It’s dope and shows mad talent when a rapper can spit well. But that doesn’t make a great song to me. Tech N9ne can spit better then 95 percent of rappers but his songs bore me to tears. The hooks, the subject matter, and I KNOW YOUR NAME IS FUCKING TECH N9NE for the hundred billionth time. As long as a rapper doesn’t sound like a shitty reject, and can write songs it’s all good. ICP has that. Their songs are filled with character. The background noises, the layers of instruments, the different voices that J uses (esp in earlier songs), the hooks, the way Shaggy screams, even ICP skits are better than Twiztid skits and I don’t like 80 percent of skits on albums. Not only that but ICP has persistence in great albums. I can’t think of an album ICP has put out that isn’t good, I can think of maybe 5 songs that were not to my liking, but Twiztid hasn’t nearly the persistence. W.I.C.K.E.D and Heartbroken and Homicidal are not very good at all. This is of course my opinion, feel free to curse or hate on me all you wish but love to agree to disagree and pass the dutchie.

I skipped ICP’s show but definitely went to Twiztid’s.

The stage show is not that bad. People are only talking shit because he called out their clown gods. Their happy smiley, rainbow rhyming, miracle finding clown gods.

ICP has become nothing more than Halloween nursery rhymes for elementary schoolers.

All hail Twiztid, the Kings of the Wicked Shit.
