Fort Myers Juggalos and Juggalettes you can now breathe a sigh of relief. Despite some concerns from one councilman, the city council gave ICP the green light to perform at Harborside Event Center in October.
The city council said, it’s a matter of free speech, and that the council can’t judge one group over another. Council member Tom Leonardo was opposed to allowing ICP to perform because he did not think this event would be good for Fort Myers.
Councilwoman Christine Matthews stated that she did not think they should rule people out based on the negatives, they should look at the positive. She also said, “If they have a great following … when they come they’ll spend money downtown.”
Councilman Johnny Streets agreed with with Mrs. Matthews and said, “What’s the difference between how they look versus what people do on Halloween night when they come downtown in their costumes.” He went on to say “You have to be fair. You can’t have one and not the other. If I don’t like it, I don’t go, but I can’t prevent anyone who is curious from going.”
