Councilman concerned about planned Insane Clown Posse concert in Harborside

Insane Clown Posse‘s “Shockfest” has made the top story on the Fox 4 newscast in Fort Myers, FL. Unfortunately it is not really a positive story. It seems Councilman Tom Leonardo has a problem with ICP’s concert being held in Fort Myers using a city facility. He went on to say, he googled ICP and did not like what he seen. Mr. Leonardo contacted the city manager and police chief about his concerns.

The general manager of the Harborside Event Center says there will be adequte security in place and he doesn’t foresee any problems with the event. You can view a video of the newscast and read the article below.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Along with the zombies, downtown Fort Myers is getting another event, Shockfest, just in time for Halloween. One of the headlining bands is the Insane Clown Posse, which is known for its fans, the Jugaloos, a group designated as a gang by the FBI.

it’s clear in the group’s YouTube video that the Insane Clown Posse like to have a good time. Much like its fans, the Juggalos, as shown in a Fuse TV video. In 2011, they were labeled by the FBI as a “loosely organized hybrid gang.” A claim the group denies. They’re headed to the city of Fort Myers for an October 8 concert.

Councilman Tom Leonardo voiced his concern by phone.

“We have too much violence in Fort Myers as it is,” said Leonardo. “Why do we want to add to it?”

The hip hop duo will perform along with three other bands at the Harborside Event Center. The event is called Shockfest and this will be its first time here.

“I don’t know that there’s a place for that in Fort Myers using a city facility,” said Leonardo. “I think this goes way beyond what Zombiefest was all about.”

But not everyone feels the same about  the ICP’s upcoming performance. The general manager at Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza says its followers should come on in.

“I would welcome any Juggalos that want to come in here, just don’t throw any rootbeer around we’ll be good,” said Lance Harmon.

Good is the goal for the city. But Leonardo isn’t taking any chances. In an e-mail, he wrote “I Googled Juggalos and did not like what i saw”. He’s asked the city manager and police chief to respond.

“I’m sure every law enforcement group in southwest Florida is going to be looking into this group,” said Leonardo.

The general manager of the Harborside Event Center says there will be adequte security in place and he doesn’t foresee any problems with the event.

It’s just a tour stop. ICP shows up, plays their set, throws some faygo and they’re off to the next town. They’ve been doing it for decades. Anyone that doesn’t know that by now is grossly misinformed.

You hit it right on the head BlackSand. But I think it’s funny how this guy is the only one complaining. I dont think he would complain as much, as say if Justin Bieber fans tore up Ft. Myers, cuz it’s Bieber and Bieber fans. Idk I think it’s a stupid pointless thing to bitch about, and try and get everybody in a panic frenzy and possibly do the same shit that got the GOTJ taken away from Missouri.
