The Dark Carnival Tarot Permanently Added to the Museum of Tarot

We have some positive news to report about The Dark Carnival Tarot. Rachel just posted on the Dark Carnival Tarot facebook page that her tarot deck will be added to the permanent collection at the Museo dei Tarocchi (Museum of Tarot) in Riola, Italy, at the curator’s request.

We here at FLH would like to congratulate Rachel on her achievement. If you are interested in purchasing a tarot deck for yourself CLICK HERE. I will admit i’m not the greatest writer so i will add the facebook post below so you can read this great news in Rachel’s words.

BIG NEWS! Please share! It is now official: The Dark Carnival Tarot will be added to the permanent collection at the Museo dei Tarocchi (Museum of Tarot) in Riola, Italy, at the curator’s request. Italy is the Mecca of modern tarot, and it is truly a privilege and an honor for the Dark Carnival deck to be added to this collection in such a beautiful, historic place. (The museum site itself dates back to the 1500s!) While this is a huge achievement for me, personally, as an artist, I derive greater meaning from some larger implications: First, there is a long line of female tarot artists who historically have received little to no recognition for their work and are relatively just now getting credit. (For instance, the famous “Rider Waite” deck was drawn by neither Rider nor Waite, but a girl named “Pixie”…) Second, and most of all, there is what I call “the Juggalo factor.” The widely misunderstood juggalo family and community, who inspired the deck, are in the midst of a battle for their basic civil liberties, given the FBI’s ridiculous gang designation and subsequent ACLU lawsuit. So to have their faces and imagery represented and proudly displayed in the Museo dei Tarocchi means more to me than anything. It is my blessing and honor to carry on the spirit and vision of the juggalo world in this way. And to think…wisdom never looked so strange! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR SHARING, LOVING, AND READING THIS! TOGETHER, WE GO TO ITALY AND STRAIGHTEN THAT TOWER…WHATEVER THE FUCK WE WANT…WITH THE JUGGALO POWER! Love always, Rachel***

    That’s pretty cool, congrats.
It’s a bit ridiculous, though, that you have to go as far as another continent altogether for the juggalo stigma not to carry so much weight. I don’t foresee our subculture making it into any museums anytime soon stateside. It’s cool that some people out there can just recognize art for what it is, though.

^^^ Italy is the Mecca of modern tarot. That is why the museum is there. It’s a HUGE honor in the tarot world to be received in Italy–way bigger than any new-agey US gallery. I’m so HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
