After 16 years and nine albums with Psychopathic Records Twiztid now brings the Juggalo Family “A New Nightmare.”  This marks the end of an era and the start of another.  While being both cheered and criticized by fans within the genre for this move it has led to rampant speculation and rumors.  While we do not currently know and may never know the reasons for this move we look forward to the future and give you our take on “A New Nightmare.”

Track by track review and rating

1. Wake Me Up- A basic intro to this CD.  Not too much going on here.  N/A

2. Down With Us Ft Wrekonize- The beat backing this track is stripped down while still allowing a solid hook to stand out.  The verses are delivered with purpose and seem to show how Twiztid feels about leaving Psychopathic, even if it is subliminal and not anything direct.  Of course that is purely speculation.  A really solid track to lead this CD off.  9/10

3. Unjust Love Ft Mickey Avalon & Danny Boone- Another simple but effective beat here.  The track is about stalking a girl but don’t let the simple concept fool you.  The verses are about as wicked as anything they have ever done.  The lack of Mickey Avalon and Danny Boone in verses will leave some people scratching their heads.  7/10

4. The Deep End Ft Caskey- Very simple music and a very unique hook guide the listener through the track..  Almost a spoken word track in its conception but that allows their lyrics to really shine through.  Those lyrics will most definitely cause fans to speculate.  Caskey puts down a solid verse.  9/10

5. Sick Man Ft Blaze Ya Dead Homie- Great beat in this track.  The verses are dark and speak of this “sick man” who makes everyone around him eventually die.  This track is a prime example of why many fans consider Twiztid the poster children for the Underground Wicked Shit.  9/10

6. Screaming Out Ft Dominic & Irv Da Phenom- This track was one of the first glimpses fans got of this new sound.  Most will come into this album with a preconceived notion based on a YouTube video for this one.  Luckily the album version will put all those fears to rest.  The mellow beat and impactful verses makes it obvious why this was one of the lead singles.  The featured artists add a lot to the verses and hook.  9/10

7. Wasted Ft Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Bukshot, Lil Wyte, Jonny Richter, Jellyroll, Jahred of Hed PE, Liquid Assassin, & Ajax- This track highlights a ton of Underground heavyweights.  The whole track is all about getting wasted or staying wasted.  A really good kick back track in which most of the artists hold their own.  Ajax and Jahred would be the low spots for features and even they do well here.  8/10

8. Falling Down Ft Swollen Members- String and piano back this one.  Another deeply emotional track from the demented duo.  Mad child and Prevail add good verses here.  This track is a great example of how this genre of music can actually express emotion while appealing to a broader audience.  8/10

9. Monstrosity Ft R.O.C. (House Of Krazees)- This track marks the return of the House Of Krazees.  A nice nod to Rob Zombie taking a sample from “What Lurks On Channel X?”  R.O.C. delivers a great verse.  It is nice to see House of Krazees returning in this one.  8/10

Conclusion:  This album marks the beginning of a new era for Twiztid.  At first Juggalos may not know how to feel about this “New Nightmare” that Twiztid has created.  Most will find as they listen to the album a few times the purpose and intent of the album shines through.  In the end Twiztid may lose a few fans but they are opening up a huge door to opportunity here.  Finally out from under the shadow of ICP, Twiztid now has a chance to bring the Underground to the masses.

Would have been better without the faggy singing.

Personally I didn’t care much for the sung choruses in Screaming Out and The Deep End, but overall I thought this was a solid EP. I’m still tuning to this every now and then, went nuts over Madrox’s verse in Falling Down am very confused as to why Unjust Love has those “features” put on the title.
